Auch wenn der Schnee ganz Lönneberga bedeckt – Michel hat mehr Unfug im Kopf als irgendein anderer Junge in ganz Småland. Dabei will er doch eigentlich immer nur das Beste für alle. Zum Beispiel damals, als er Stolle-Jocke und die anderen Armenhäusler zum Weihnachtsschmaus nach Katthult einlädt. Und was kann Michel dafür, dass sein Vater bei der Schneeballschlacht so ungünstig im Weg steht und dass auf Katthult eine große Küsserei ausbricht? Aber als Alfred schwer krank wird und der Schneesturm tobt, zeigt Michel, dass er stärker und mutiger ist als alle Erwachsenen.
