About this listen

There's just something about a man who can dance, and Mason James has the kind of moves that turn a woman's thoughts to what that body of his could do off the dance floor. Mason's been breaking hearts so long it's part of his nature. There's not a woman he can't seduce.

When he shows up in Cotton Creek, the women perk right up and take a sudden interest in dance lessons. No one realizes that teaching dancing is as far from the truth of who he really is as it gets.

In all honesty, he's not sure what he is anymore. He came back to Cotton Creek because it's the only real home he's ever known. He didn't expect to like it and sure didn't expect to have a baby left on his doorstep or to meet someone who made him wonder if it wasn't time he stopped letting women chase him and do some chasing of his own.

Rhett Samuel Price did a good job narrating. His voice is very soothing and smooth so it was easy to change between the male and female characters. I wasn’t a huge fan of his female voice but he did an admirable job and during the very emotional times, he did an excellent job imparting that emotion, even if I didn't love his female voice. He tried for a few accents as well which were fun and he was good at differentiating between characters.

Initially, the story was about the start of the relationship between Mason, a dancer, and Savannah. About 1/3 through, we learned more about their pasts (Savannah’s past broke my heart) and I thought the story really became more heart warming, exciting and interesting. There was a good mix of romance, love and loyalty, intrigue and hope. So while i wasn't a huge fan of the beginning of the book, the middle and end more than made up for it. I didn't want to stop listening after it got into the real meat of the story. I'm definitely now interested in listening to the other stories in the series. By the way, this is the second book in the series and the couple of the first story makes quite a presence in this story so while it's not necessary to read the first book, I think that it would add to it just to learn their story. So perhaps that will go into my KU to see what happened!

Good story but started a bit slow

To be honest, I started off not being impressed with this audiobook. I found the characters to be shallow and was a bit concerned that the rest of the story would be a reflection of that shallowness. In this regard the book is sort of split in two. The shallow pre-baby Tommy first bit and the more plot-rich, action-oriented second half. The difference between the two parts is that the story strays from the focus on the pretty people and gets down to addressing the real stuff, including Tommy's sudden arrival, Savannah's traumatic childhood, Mason's job and so on. I definitely preferred the second half and thought there were some interesting twists and turns in the story.

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

This book started slow. It took me listening a bit into the book to get the hang of it, to the nit & grit of it. Their romance has obstacles, tough pasts but a lot of heart to it. The narration was good and it took me to the emotional places needed.

This is the first book I have listened to by Ciana Stone and it won't be my last. This book was just WOW... Mason and Savannah's story is great from beginning, I couldn't stop listening. The chemistry between these two are off the charts. I can't wait till the next book.
