About this listen

The Fool has returned to a realm in chaos.

As Generasi recovers from the wrath of a demon knight, Alex Roth travels to Thameland to uncover the mysteries of the Ravener. He and his friends have grown in power, ready to take on any threat lurking in the hills of Greymoor, where their university mounts their expedition.

But some things await Alex that no amount of training can counter.

For soon, the Heroes of Thameland will be reunited with the Fool.

And his secrets are on the line.

Book four of the best-selling series. Continue your fantastical journey into a coming-of-age magic-academy fantasy with a weak-to-strong progression into power, a setting inspired by D&D, detailed world building and magical science, action, comedy, slice-of-life, and GameLit elements.

Although I am enjoying this series of books it is not progressing as fast as I would hope.

I love it. I love that the series keeps a progression fantasy vibe while not having overly present status windows, skills, and other tropes (this and The Hedge Wizard are both great at this), `The power system is still great and a far better take on the unwanted power trend. Also, when a series doesn't slouch on the slice of life aspect and manages to show the main character learning and growing, it is a brilliant thing. I genuinely enjoy listening to these books, and I only gave the story a 4 because while it was fantastically written (no overly repetitive words and fantasy terms) the series' story itself wasn't very prevalent until the end - though it is much better like this than being rushed. Mr Baldree did a brilliant job as always, he's probably my favourite narrator (with Heath Miller) and I am amazed how he keeps such clear distinction with both the characters in this series and in others, like The Primal Hunter. Bailyn (am I spelling that right?) is one of the most entertaining characters I have had the privilege of listening to, and the humour of each character was tasteful and not pushy. Definitely one of the best series I have read or listened to, and I can't wait for the next instalment.

P.S.
I never really notice the litRPG elements, as it is a wonderful story on it's own with much less game-like tropes than other's of the 'genre', which makes it feel far more unique and well written, and more like a proper story.

Fantastic series, still being amazing.

Another good story to continue reading from where book 3 left off. Worth listening to if you have already listened to the previous ones.

Devoured the first four books and the only thing I'll say is I miss the sound effects, spent the books saying the sounds out them out loud. I did get some looks at times, can't say I care... I hope there added back in, makes it so much more descriptive 😁

love it!

yeah Alex is OP. in a league of his own. this unlike other books in the series purely focuses on the development of the MC. He's a badass.
