About this listen

The war in Africa is over and the rebel cause hangs by a thread. With opposition to Caesar now led by Labienus and by Pompey’s sons in Hispania, Caesar is one step from ending the civil war that has plagued Rome for years.

Before the war can be pursued, though, Caesar has matters to attend to in Rome. And against a backdrop of glorious triumphs and civil friction, the general’s old warhorse Marcus Falerius Fronto begins to uncover a series of events that may have a cause in common. Investigation, however, is sidelined as necessity finally draws everyone across the sea to the crucible of war once again.

In Hispania the clouds gather, for though the rebels may have been pushed into a corner, they are far from beaten. With the great name of Pompey and the tactical genius of Labienus on their side, Caesar must fight hard to win the day. Fronto and his friends must give all they have now, for the prize for this campaign is the ultimate one: the republic itself.

another

so glad to hear that there is another, book 15, to come. in historical note I'm one that likes all 3.
the battle scenes are tremendously descriptive, like you're there feeling, fronto is as acerbic as ever but with humour, and malk Williams gives his usual top notch performance, I've loved and own the entire series, yes we know ceasars' end but want to know frontos', look forward to it.

High standard maintained

Turney keeps the story developing nicely as Caesar's campaign nears a finish. Not quite as rich as other books in the series but nonetheless an entertaining tale as Fronto nears retirement. The characters are mainly well known from earlier books but fresh faces and new aspects of the old characters keep appearing. The narrator is as excellent as ever.

Love the intrigue

I’m not someone who really enjoys March- Fight-March novels so thank goodness for some political wrangling! I love the future Augustus, the little psychopath, so have been hoping he’d pop up.

Excellent series

This is an excellent series, I can't wait for the finale; although I will be sad that there will be no more.

Fronto as always is excellent

Another great book, researched and converted to an unputdownable story narrated brilliantly, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed every single book in this series, sadly just the one remaining now.
