 Prince Roger MacClintock, Tertiary Heir to the Throne of Man, was a spoiled rotten, arrogant, whiny, thoroughly useless young pain in the butt. But that was before an assassination attempt marooned the Royal Brat and his bodyguards on the planet Marduk, and before they had to march half way around the entire planet, through 120-degree heat and five-hour rainstorms in jungles full of damnbeasts, capetoads, killerpillars, and atul-grak, not to mention hostile peoples, to make their way back to port.

Gripping stuff. I got right into the first book in the saga of Prince Roger and this one was just as good. Maybe a tad too much 'soldiering' and 'battle craft' but terrific characters and story. I can't decide now whether to wait for the audio book of part 3: 'March to the Stars' or just go out and buy the novel.

I very much enjoyed this "Prince Roger" series and have listened to it more than once.



For fans of epic science fiction this is a good buy - although the emphasis is more on low tech than high tech.

I'm now listening to the four books in this series again. Hi-tech SF, political intrigue and a coming of age trek for Prince Roger and his bodyguard. Put this together with superb authors and a great narrator and you have one of the best buys you could make on Audible.
I've since purchased more audiobooks and books by Weber & Ringo and have yet to be disappointed. More please.

It was interesting to see Roger's growth as well as the marines becoming a bit more wild. Also good to see them add the Basiks own lol

Pick up right after the last book and the marines just keep on battling their was across the planet.

Their way across is blocked by a little war they have to fight and win...

What did you like best about March to the Sea? What did you like least?

Its imaginative....but Ringo is obsessed with technical detail.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Ive listened to John Ringo stuff before. If you looking for deep and meaningful stories and complicated characters then look else where. In fact its almost an audiable comic. Its all swashbuckling stuff except its set in the future and on another planet, with lots of fighting enemy Aliens who are daft as planks and cant shoot straight and ofcourse die very easily :) You may find yourself drifting off a bit in places because he is obsessed with tech detail. That said its a decent romp if your in the mood for that sort of thing!
