About this listen

Jesse Gordon, driven to a shocking murder by the killing of his wife and infant daughter, condemns himself to life underground in the New York City subway system. Abandoning the light of day, he finds an evil as old as time, and a redemption which must be bought by a price far greater than death.

I've listened to many audiobooks narrated by the brilliant Chet Williamson, but Lowland Rider is only the second one I've listened to that he wrote as well. The story itself is quite unusual. It's more of a dark thriller than straight up horror. As with the aforementioned audiobook (Ash Wednesday), it's very character based. There are lots of different characters that seem to be unrelated at the start, but over the course of the story, their paths intertwine. Chet Williamson is a fantastic writer. I genuinely believe he should be more well known because his books are beautifully written.
His narration is also top class. His distinctive voice and characterizations cannot be faulted.
Another excellent presentation from Crossroad Press. Highly recommended.
