About this listen

After successfully matchmaking within the Sydney desi community for years, Nas has decided to open a marriage agency to help all Australians find love. With 17 years of marriage to his dream woman Tasnim under his belt, he's keen to help others find the same happiness that he's had. But what he sees as a perfect, happy match isn't necessarily what something others agree on - including Tasnim.

Before long, the cracks in Nas and Tasnim's marriage are beginning to show, and Salima, their 16-year-old daughter, is caught in the middle. Which parent will she side with, if either one at all? She’s got her own complicated life going on, one that her parents seem too busy to notice. Maybe it's time for her to break some rules and follow her heart at last?

I wanted a quick and free audible listen…this was okay. Average storyline but bravo anyway!

A short okay-ish story…

It is unusual to find a story with hope as it’s ending. I enjoyed every minute.

A lovely story

I enjoyed this book so much that it made me emotional. Everything about this book is beautiful. I couldn't stop listening until it finished. Somehow, I knew that a happy ending was the only way for this story. The narrators were brilliant.

I enjoyed this short and sweet story. So much of it portrays how we might communicate or act... but don't in reality. The real world would have been much messier - but isn't nice to spend a few hours in a dream of adaptable parents and reasonable teenagers.

idealistic, unrealistic but very sweet

The story is easy to listing. It's not a complicated book family story that we all can relate to it.

Simple story

Gaining an insight into a different culture.
It was great having both male and female narrators.
I will definitely listen to another book by this author.

A SHORT LIVE STORY

This book was a pleasant surprise.

If you've ever had the kind of week (month, year) where you just need something you can listen to while you potter about doing housework, cooking, etc, I highly recommend this. It's not cerebral at all and I don't think there was a single plot twist--but that felt like a plus rather than a minus because the story unfolded so organically.

The only "bad" thing about this is that it would be absolutely no good if you wanted something to challenge you/make you think deeply. "Love for Life" is an easy-listen/read in every way, but it's an excellent example of the genre, and what it lacks in brains it makes up for in heart.

Finally, the voice acting was wonderful. I didn't expect such convincing performances in such a light read, but they did a professional and engaging job. The characters were reasonably believable if a little idealised, and the voice actors really sold them. Great stuff.
