About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

A thrilling new novel featuring Evan Smoak - otherwise known as Orphan X.

Once a black book government assassin known as Orphan X, Evan Smoak left the program, went deep underground, and reinvented himself as someone who will go anywhere, and risk everything to help the truly desperate who have nowhere else to turn. Since then, Evan has fought international crime syndicates and drug cartels, faced down the most powerful people in the world and even brought down a President. Struggling with an unexpected personal crisis, Evan goes back to the very basics of his mission - and this time, the truly desperate is a little girl who wants him to find her missing dog.

Not his usual mission, and not one Evan embraces with enthusiasm, but this unlikely, tiny job quickly explodes into his biggest mission yet. one that finds him battered between twisted AI technocrat billionaires, a mysterious female assassin who seems a mirror of himself, and personal stakes so gut-wrenching he can scarcely make sense of them.

Evan's mission pushes him to his limit - he must find and take down the assassin known only as the Wolf, before she succeeds in completing her mission and killing the people who can identify her - a teenaged daughter of her last target, and Evan himself. Matched skill for skill, instinct for instinct, Evan must outwit an opponent who will literally stop at nothing if he is to survive.

Superb in all aspects, story, narrative and narration. Evan is slowly becoming “human”. His character development, along with Joey are fascinating and gradual. Nice twist at the end.

Outstanding.

Gregg Hurwitz continues the thrilling saga with aplomb. The perfect mix of action, humour and great storytelling. Each release is a highlight of my year.

Evan, Joey, Tommy, and Scott Brick. What's not to love? Brilliant book, though this does not carry on from the end of the last book.

The wait for Lone Wolf was worth the wait.
This is probably the best Orphan-X story ever.
Evan have evolved from a preprogrammed assassin to a more human character with another sense of right and wrong. Also his involvement and relationship with Josephine is growing more into a partnership.

Kudos to Gregg Hurwitz for not just writing another grab’n’slash follow up to X’s story.

The bedst X ever !

As always a well thought out flowing storyline that never fails to have a mixture of action pacted nerve riveting sequences that's flavoued with the right amount of humor.

But this time, the twist in the tail was something I thought would occur between these two friends, was still surprising.

LONE WOLF HAS A MUTUAL UPLINE

Not streaming as used to. Also, seem to park to much on the issue of social media. AI and the damage the present to youngsters today.

The story is less good than previous stories
