About this listen
An exceptionally good mystery from Wales' best up-and-coming talent!
A body is found in a dark and dingy tunnel at the bottom of Dinas Rock, the site of a disused mine. There is no sign of struggle...
Detective Inspector Winter Meadows suspects the victim, youth worker David Harris, willingly reached the location where he met his end. He must have known his killer.
But he must have known something else, too. Meadows discovers that Dinas Rock has a history of tragedy. Years ago a teenage girl met her end there, and Harris was present.
As Meadows investigates the old case alongside the new, he opens old wounds. Ones that have festered for years. Can he find the killer before the inquiry forces them to strike again?
Lies of Mine is the fifth standalone title in a series of murder mysteries featuring DI Winter Meadows by best-selling author Cheryl Rees-Price.

You get the picture? It's a small thing but I paid for this title and it's a little disappointing that the writing is so unimaginative. A little more creativity and this could be a very good read/listen. The narration is not the best but I've heard much worse and it probably wouldn't put me off another title by the same narrator. I've been really spoiled by some fantastic narrators on Audible and this guy has a slightly strange way of reading non-dialogue text. I can't quite put my finger on it but it's a little unusual - and I'm not sure why I find it slightly off-putting. It's a lovely soft Welsh lilt though.
He said, she said, enough said!

To many "said ....."'

You've got an excellent narrator, and your readers aren't idiots. Trust us to know who's bloody speaking!! It ruined things for me so much that I felt like I was slogging through the book rather than being immersed in it. I could feel my teeth clenching just a little harder each time. Probably cracked one of them by the end.
If I hear "she/he said" one more time...

Story and narrator good but....
