The sequence in this audiobook is first the English word, phrase, sentence, or question, followed by the Dutch translation, the Dutch translation will be repeated slowly (long words in syllables) and then the listener will get a chance to repeat.

It is always good to have some understanding of the local language. This audiobook goes from basic sounds to vocabulary, expressions and useful phrases, it coves quite a lot for a small book and the essentials to get by successfully in Dutch speaking countries. I found it very useful and well structured and narrated, highly recommended!

This book contains so many useful words and short presses for tourists from days of week, months of the year, time, pronouns to everything in between. The months are the easiest as they are almost the same as English.

I thought I would struggle with some of the sounds, however it was really interesting as the most difficult sounds are the ones made at the back of the throat, but I found these quite easy as they are similar to Arabic sounds.

Great book for tourists, I would recommend it to anyone planning a holiday and need to pick up some Dutch vocabulary then this book is for you.

What better way to learn a new language than through listening to it while in the car or before bed. It is so much easier when you can hear the accent and how each word is pronounced. Definitely the easiest way to learn a new language.

Bought this as my wife are traveling to Holland this fall, and we both wanted to get versed in basic Dutch to help us get around the country, and to understand basic communication. Learn Dutch for American Tourists breaks down the most fundamental, and required Dutch to get around the country as a native English speaker.

The narrator is easy to understand and follow along with, and the lessons are structured so they are easy to memorize. Would definitely recommend.

I have visited a few European countries and Belgium and Netherlands are on my lists to visit the next time I’m in Europe (hopefully after the pandemic is over). This book is very useful in learning common words and phrases you can use while you visit a Dutch speaking country. I’m not sure if I’m pronouncing these words right but I do enjoy learning Dutch with this book!

It's 20 years since I was working in Rotterdam and had picked up enough to get by. Of course, over 20 years a lot of it gets forgotten, indeed, I was surprised how I had got some of the basic words mixed up with other close languages.

As the narrator says, this is not a book to teach you Dutch. This is a very handy guide to teach you (as a tourist) how to find things out by asking, if you are in the dutch speaking part of town as a tourist.. There are many parts of the world where being able to speak just a little bit of dutch is extremely useful .
