About this listen
At the end of your life, how are you likely to be remembered? Chances are that people won't be praising your money, power, and status. Instead, the people you've impacted will remember you for your compassion and personal strength - in short, your character. Unfortunately, many leaders are unaware of their character shortcomings and blind spots that hold so many of us back from building the lasting legacy we are capable of.
With the right motivation, you can begin to strengthen your character and become a moral and ethical leader capable of creating lasting change. In Leading with Character: 10 Minutes a Day to a Brilliant Legacy, Dr. Jim Loehr, cofounder of the Johnson & Johnson Human Performance Institute, reveals 50 character competencies that you can practice daily to transform your life and work.
This book will also guide you through the process of developing a personal credo that will serve as your decision-making mission statement. Most leaders never take the time to identify their own core values, instead defaulting to a reflexive form of decision making. Gain an awareness of the conscious and unconscious processes that guide what you do and why you do it, and take charge of your leadership legacy. Even good leaders are vulnerable to corruption.
Listen to Leading with Character to learn how human evolution and contemporary culture can lead us astray without our even knowing it. As we work hard to get to the top, who are we becoming along the way? If we want to become heroes whose memories will long outlast us, we need to channel our energy into creating habits that will add up to a strong and meaningful character.

Really awful
This is a very depressing book, although I like this author and the idea behind the book, the continual use of corporate and government fraud and unethical behaviour completely takes away from the message. It is the first audible book that I am returning.

Useful but obvious...
First time coming across this author - he is internationally applauded so I was excited to discover another voice that I had not heard.
The book - only bought it on audible - does not read well. lots of blips (every 30 seconds or so) where words are not clear. I imagine it is bullet lists perhaps. it comes across as super repetitive and so obvious that I struggle to see why it was written. Also lack of audio quality suggests it is a turn key book and pushed out to meet commercial demands by rehashing old material.
Put simply if we all spend more time paying attention to character strengths and paid more attention to these strengths - and journaling and scoring helps this come alive- we will develop character strengths.
it feels very much like a boy scout saying what is good and how to make us good ... but yet avoiding key challenges of why it is not already in place. Just if we practice and are more conscience we will have greater ... moral ... character.
in truth the awful sound and listening experience and the repetitive nature of the audio may simply mean that the key messages and value are lost.
Will try another book by the author as he is so well regarded. Disappointed by the boy scout and slightly purist and pious tone.

Poorly presented content for audio
Lots of great material in this book, but the audio production is not good.
The much mentioned journal/ credo isn’t included in audio or pdf.
What was it building up to??
Too much repetition of headings and sub headings. The narrator is so robotic and lacks any gripping emotion.
Will get the paper back.
I thought the purpose of the book to to develop this great credo.
This is a warmup to another guide book maybe?

Disappointing
I didn’t get past chapter 2. Seemed like a moral crusade against everyone and anyone. The author wants to blame everyone for the GFC. Shame, as I had listened to the author on a podcast which led me to purchasing. Wish I hadn’t.
