It is perhaps not surprising that the audible outline of this novel mentions only three of the characters that make up the panoply of possible choices. There are so many characters, and so few that one might even think were worth writing about, that it's probably worth reading the chapters that mention only one storyline. What is worse, is it's so preachy. While the story is sub Peyton Place it's morals are out of Pilgrim's Progress, which rubs along diffidently against the descriptions of sex between multiple participants. To quote Joni Mitchell, it reads like "a priest with a pornographic watch, looking and longing on the sly."

Why am I writing so much in this review? Because I wanted the book to be as good as Full Circle, which is excellent (apart from the silly ending). And why is this called a third volume of a series called My Queer Life? It bears no relation to the other two in the series. Has there been an editorial error?

Oh well, "just another hard time" writer (more Joni, same song). Back to Steinbeck and Hemingway.
