Ivo Cukar y su familia son cucarachas y viven felices en casa de la anciana señora Atril. Pero un día ella muere y todo cambia. Los Cukar tendrán que huir antes de que la nueva propietaria fumigue la casa y mueran todos. A través de las alcantarillas de la ciudad, los Cukar escapan y llegan al hotel Apolo, donde quieren vivir.
