About this listen

John Finnemore, writer and star of Cabin Pressure, returns in four episodes of his own sketches, as heard on BBC Radio. These episodes feature a tiger with a gun, reveal the truth behind the war effort, visit some documentary-makers, has a big debate and then treats itself to a little trophy. Plus, there are also some musical interludes from the zoo. John Finnemore's Souvenir Programme is written by and stars John Finnemore (The Now Show, Miranda, That Mitchell and Webb Look). It also features Carrie Quinlan (The News Quiz, The Late Edition), Lawry Lewin (The Life & Times of Vivienne Vyle, Horrible Histories) and Simon Kane (Six Impossible Things).

Very funny but the later series are split your guts funny. If you are only going to download one series today choose the most recent.

Gets better in later series but still brilliant.

I have listened to this series several times and I keep finding new puns and bits of business to enjoy. Very much my new favourite thing.

I am saving the next few series for a suitable car journey - it is not easy holding back!

Bears repetition...

Souvenir Programme is exactly the kind of chuckle worthy nonsense comedy I love having on in the background. It’s quite comforting too, John and the team are excellent as always.

Wonderful

So clever, funny, quirky and endearing - I love John Finnemore and this series is I think my favourite of all 7 (yes I know them all well!)

I would love to live next door to J.F

If you've never had the chance to hear these on the radio you are in for a treat. Fresh, clever and laugh out loud funny these will be heartily enjoyed.

Brilliant, clever and very funny

Would you listen to John Finnemore's Souvenir Programme: The Complete Series 1 again? Why?

A great chuckle, just love his witty humour. Some of the sketches are a little short, and I think the structure of a longer narrative, as in Cabin Pressure, works better, but these are still extremely funny.

What did you like best about this story?

The dialogue is cracking. Loved "The Archers" for those who don't really watch the Archers"

Have you listened to any of John Finnemore’s other performances? How does this one compare?

Cabin Pressure - different character, same wit.

Very funny sketches, second to Cabin Pressure

I discovered John Finnemore when I first heard Cabin Pressure on the radio. This series of sketch shows just goes to show what a brilliant writer and performer he is. I bought a load of extra credits to add the rest of the series to my audible library as I am now a huge fan.

Witty clean comedy from a brilliant writer

I've always loved the souvenire programme and now I can make bookmarks of some of my favourite sketches and show them to my friends whenever they don't get my references (which is always). A personal fave is Pooh's "interdevention".

An Absolute Classic Sketch Show

If you could sum up John Finnemore's Souvenir Programme: The Complete Series 1 in three words, what would they be?

Witty; funny; warm.

What was one of the most memorable moments of John Finnemore's Souvenir Programme: The Complete Series 1?

There are plenty of memorable moments - too many to list. It helps that John Finnemore's writing is intelligent and witty without being smug (a problem with some Radio 4 comedies).

Have you listened to any of John Finnemore’s other performances? How does this one compare?

This is a good starting point from which to explore John Finnemore's work. The other series and Cabin Pressure are well worth a listen. I have found the quality to be consistently high throughout the various series.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Kept me smiling throughout. There are plenty of laugh out loud moments too.

Any additional comments?

I genuinely recommend this and encourage you to try the other series too - they are a real delight.

Radio comedy at its best
