About this listen

Chaos breaks loose when the governor of Virginia orders that speed traps be painted on all streets and highways, and warns that speeders will be caught by monitoring aircraft flying overhead. But the eccentric island of Tangier, fourteen miles off the coast of Virginia in Chesapeake Bay, responds by declaring war on its own state.

Judy Hammer, newly installed as the superintendent of the Virginia State Police, and Andy Brazil, a state trooper and Hammer’s right hand and confidant, find themselves at their wits’ end as they try to protect the public from the politicians – and vice versa – in this pitch-perfect, darkly comic romp.

A great book to listen to, and with a good narrator as well. And I always love Andy Brazil.

Great!

I am a huge fan of Scarpetta, I’ve tried this series but just didn’t enjoy it. Talking fish and crabs are beyond me and the story lacked pace.

Not the best

A very poor story, a dog typing a message as a story plot is pretty unbelievable

Terrible

Just not the same grip to this novel. I love the Scarpetta series, but struggle with Andy Brazil.

Too spoilt with Scarpetta

So disappointed with this book. So far fetched it seemed ridiculous. Loved every Scarpetta book but wouldn’t recommend this series.

Very disappointed

I bought the Andy Brazil novels on a 3 for 2 offer and they are going from awful to diabolically bad. So much so that I have decided to return this one unfinished.
I am sure that it was written by labelling bingo balls with the least likely subjects to string together in a book, then wrote the book by pulling them out one after another.
I just about coped with the hideous, stereotyped, racist characters, narrating crabs, high-flying women doing stupid things, ‘submarines’, the least convincing blog ever and a character who has three new jobs in each book (‘I think I should take a year off to become a blogger, archeologist, state trooper and helicopter pilot’).
But at the point who I was expected to swallow the idea that PTSD triggered some ‘genetic encoding’ in a character, causing them to talk like a pirate, I just couldn’t take it any more.
Absolutely diabolical!

So bad I gave up

this is like lot of stories just put together best she could. I think Andy brail should have been killed in his house in the first chapter.

waste of money
