About this listen

One of the most hopeful, honest and wildly imaginative novels you will ever listen to.

This is the story of Isaac and the Egg, a grieving young man and his unforgettable new friend, who meet at exactly the right time.

Isaac stands alone on a bridge and screams.

Something screams back.

And that, like everything which follows, is unforgettable.

This is an audiobook about a lot of things - grief, hope, friendship, love. It's also about what you'd do if you stumbled into the woods at dawn, found something extraordinary there, and decided to take it home.

It's a tale that might seem familiar. But how it speaks to you will depend on how you've lived until now.

Sometimes, to get out of the woods, you have to go into them. Isaac and the Egg is one of the most hopeful, honest and wildly imaginative novels you will ever listen to.

A touching story

a very good book with a good story that made me want to cry in places. The voice acting is decent and I'd recommend it

What a lovely read, a story of friendship, grief, loss and surprising humour. I loved this book and eagerly anticipate the next one from this promising author

Utterly heart achingly beautiful

Everything about this audiobook is gorgeous. A beautiful story brilliantly narrated.

In terms of pace it is very like The Alchemist or Leonard and Hungry Paul and like those books it is a heart warming, life affirming gentle story

Really great book

It’s a little slow at the beginning and it feels like everything happens in the last 4 chapters but I definitely felt connected to the characters and the story. Overall really enjoyed it.

Shockingly good

This book is not something I’d normally pick to read, but it was so well crafted with just the right song of suspense, quirkiness, depth of emotion and yet lightheartedness all together. A grown up children’s book indeed! Made marvellous by the narration - one of the best acting pieces heard on Audible.

Best book I’ve listened to all year!!!🥚

I loved this book, and it was a delight to hear it read so beautifully. It’s original, quirky, moving, sad, funny and gripping, all at the same time. A story about a 29 year old man and an egg shouldn’t resonate so deeply, but everything about the world the author has created here feels so visceral and close to home, incredibly it all works. Hope to come across a lot more from this author in future!

Unreal Narration

I tend to be using a very cost-ineffective approach currently where I read and listen to a book. I read most of the first half of this book and then decided to get the audiobook. This is the first fiction book I’ve come across where the experience was massively enhanced by the narration. His voice is generally brilliant and conveys the emotion superbly, however it is when he’s playing the role of the ‘egg’ where this narrator comes into his own! This is a lovely book and an even better audiobook. Thoroughly recommend.
