This was my first book by this author and I have mixed feelings.
I was intrigued by the premise of the story. Kira is an undercover agent who’s been planted in Eoghan’s art gallery as a curator and (privately) a forger to collect intel on the underhanded dealings of his gallery. I enjoyed the art references. I liked Kira as a character, she’s a strong woman who’s been through a lot so she’s cautious and mistrusting of Eoghan’s advances.
I loved the narration it was done in duet style, which is always an aural treat. Both narrators are new to me and Julio maxwell puts on a convincing Irish accent. He played the obsessed love interest and unhinged mafia man so well. His portrayal of Eoghan’s father as the callous mafia boss was also very convincing. Molly’s portrayal of Kira was impressive. The narrators really brought the story to life with their expressive performances. Portraying accurately portraying the myriad of emotions the characters experience through out the book.
Ultimately, I don’t think this book is for me. Eoghan gets a bit too unhinged in a way that made me uncomfortable. I like it bit of darkness, but this was too dark for me.
