About this listen
Dr. George K. Simon knows how people push your buttons: your children---especially teens---are experts at it, as is your mate. A coworker may quietly undermine your efforts while professing to be helpful, or your boss may prey on your weaknesses. Manipulative people have two goals: to win and to look good doing it. Too often, those they abuse are only vaguely aware of what is happening to them. In this eye-opening book, you'll discover:
- four reasons why victims have a hard time leaving abusive relationships
- power tactics manipulative people use to push their own agendas and justify their behavior
- ways to redefine the rules of engagement between you and the abuser
- how to spot potential weaknesses in your character that can set you up for manipulation
- two tools for personal empowerment to help you maintain greater strength in all relationships

Excellent insights
This is an excellent book. So many insights and behaviour characteristics I have seen in personal and professional relationships. Also will help me to identify and address behaviours directed towards me as well. Narration good too.

Slow start, slow end, but the middle was fantastic
This book contains an abundance of information that in its entirety is worth the purchase of the book. Things that make you straighten your head and say "oh, my god!".
He:
- Tells you all the different types of abusers
- Tells you a collection of short stories where someone is being taken advantage of
- Walks you through each story, explaining how each person is tricked, and what they could have done differently.
I only subtract stars because unfortunately those moments are frequently buried in waffle. Sometimes there is way too much detail on completely irrelevant points or sidetracks. Considering how interesting some of the things he says are, I found myself zoning out too many times.
But I will be returning to the bookmarks I have marked, because this was truly fascinating.

Recommend
Educational. Informative learning about manipulators but also encourages learning about the self and to take responsibility as to why one is an easy target so one can understand how to spot, protect and deal with manipulation going forward.

This is a really accessible example of how to recognise manipulation. Loved it and listened twice. Will refer regularly.

Good Information But narrators voice
The voice made it hard to really enjoy listening to the book. Very robotic. But ignoring that I learnt a lot, I like how he’s saying traditional psychology methods are flawed, they focused on sympathising with covert aggressive people but actually take it for what it is, they are manipulators, they know what they are doing!!!
