About this listen

The stylish, exuberant and remarkably sweet confession of one of the most famous groupies of the 1960s and '70s is back in this new edition that includes an afterword on the author's last 15 years of adventures.

As soon as she graduated from high school, Pamela Des Barres headed for the Sunset Strip, where she knocked on rock stars' backstage doors and immersed herself in the drugs, danger, and ecstasy of the freewheeling 1960s.

Over the next 10 years she had affairs with Mick Jagger, Jimmy Page, Keith Moon, Waylon Jennings, Chris Hillman, Noel Redding and Jim Morrison, among others. She traveled with Led Zeppelin; lived in sin with Don Johnson; turned down a date with Elvis Presley; and was close friends with Robert Plant, Gram Parsons, Ray Davies and Frank Zappa. As a member of the GTO's, a girl group masterminded by Frank Zappa, she was in the thick of the most revolutionary renaissance in the history of modern popular music.

Warm, witty and sexy, this kiss-and-tell-all stands out as the perfect chronicle of one of rock 'n' roll's most thrilling eras.

Loved this - such an interesting and passionate life and a genuinely likeable lady

I read this book in 2009 and was in love with the glamour of the golden rock period. This book was a wonderful insight to that time. After reading Daisy Jones and the six, I wanted to read it again. The book was still amazing. I felt like some unpleasant parts of the 60’s and 70’s were more apparent this time, but the story was interesting and I really enjoyed the additional chapters from 2018 onwards.

Rock & Roll wonder

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, if you like stories about the rock culture of the 60s and 70s then this is definitely up your street, be prepared for Pamela to break into song throughout the book, some other reviewers seemed to not like this, I thought it gave a bit of something to the reading, there’s nothing worse than someone reading something so flat, although I will say when she does impressions of the Beatles (being from Liverpool myself) her Liverpudlian accent needs some work. But apart from that one flaw it was a really great listen, some bits I was laughing out loud. Would highly recommend.

is the sign of a good book 'I would read that again'
if so sadly I found this a disappointment absolutely zero info regarding all the music that was made just a story about being in and around the famous and I'm still none the wiser what was actually achieved

so you enjoyed yourself !!
