About this listen
What is Clare Wingate doing? One minute she's suffering in a pretty-in-pink gown she'll never wear again, and the next thing she knows, it's morning and she has the nastiest hangover of her life.
To make matters worse, she's wearing nothing but a spritz of Escada and lying next to Sebastian Vaughan, her girlhood crush turned sexy, globe-trotting journalist. Somewhere between the toast and the toss of the bouquet, she got herself into a whole lot of trouble.
Clare had the right to go wild - after all, she'd been knocked off her dyed-to-match shoes after finding her own fiancé in a compromising position with the washing machine repairman. Clearly her society wedding is off.
But Sebastian pushed all the wrong buttons - and some of the right ones. Clare is in no mood for love - not even for lust - and wants to forget about Sebastian and his six-pack abs ASAP. But he isn't in the mood to go away, and his kiss is impossible to forget.
©2015 Rachel Gibson (P)2015 Blackstone Audio, Inc.Narration was good too again, although I still prefer to have dual narrators for each perspective. I was still able to listen.
Enjoyable story

The H had commitment issues – don’t they always – but for no real reason. His parents were divorced and he lost touch with his father, but apart from that he had a fairly normal single parent upbringing. The h also came from a broken home and had “issues” with her parents, but again, this was just a bit of light background filler that seemed to really have no impact on the story, or the couple themselves. They were two sensible, well-adjusted, successful and independent characters. She agreed to a “no strings” friends-with-benefits sort of relationship after finding her fiancé having sex with a man, but I could never understand why the H was also so keen to avoid relationships. There was nothing in his background to justify why he was so adamant that he could never be seriously involved with anyone. And he was apparently too oblivious to realise that he was already in a serious, monogamous, relationship with the h, even though he was still determined not to officially acknowledge it.
One thing I did like about the story was that it did not just happen overnight. They lived in different cities and there were large gaps of time spent apart due to jobs and life separating them, however as they were both so comfortable with such long separations it did mean the relationship did not feel promising or exciting. It was just nice. Comfortable. Normal. Boring. I listened to this book with no real feeling of connection to the story, or the couple, or the romance. At the end the h realises she is “in love” and “wants more” and so she tells the H, and dumps him. He leaves in a huff, stews over the issue for a week, then realises that he, also, is “in love” and “wants more” and comes back with the obligatory ring and cute puppy. They lived happily ever after. The End. This book was well written, and well narrated. Unfortunately it was also completely forgettable.
Nice, but forgettable

Both main characters are trying too hard to convince us and themselves that they don’t like each other - so much so, that I’ve arrived at chapter 7 and I’m bored out of my mind!!! When is the story going to start? Sigh! I’m sorry, for me it’s just not worth pursuing.
I’m sorry, I can’t! I DNF…
