About this listen

Love at first sight is easy; letting it through the front door is an Odyssey.

All he wants to do is let the perfect man in, but can he overcome his unhinged neighbor, a seductive cult, a self-obsessed vampire, and a cat intent on dragging him to hell?

After a hit run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, this critically acclaimed, Audible-commissioned musical adventure was recorded live at Audible’s Minetta Lane Theatre in New York City. Written and performed by Todd Almond and directed by Obie Award-winner David Cromer, I’m Almost There is a rueful, hilarious, and poignant modern love story in song about a man crossing a sea of doubts to find happiness ... and good coffee.

Featuring Erin Hill on harp and vocals (Joyce Carol Oates - bass) and Luke McCrosson on bass (Joyce Carol Oates - piano) with music supervision and co-orchestration by Jonathan Mastro.

Listening to this production was really interesting as I saw the live version two times at the Edinburgh Fringe festival in 2024. If I had to choose between the newer version and the Edinburgh version I would have to pick the Edinburgh version as I saw it visually and some elements work better seeing it in person. Beautiful music and performances from all cast.

A different exprience, overall very good.
