About this listen
Abby Kenyon belongs to Quentin Walker heart, body, and soul. But she's a wolf shifter from the pure Black Mesa Wolves Pack, and he's one big brute of a bear shifter from the mixed Silvertip Shifters clan. She can't have a bear as a mate.
Or can she?
Quentin Walker knows down to his bones that Abby is his mate. But she's never seen a mated wolf/bear pair and is certain it can't work. The autumn full moon mating run is Quentin's last chance to prove that only he can win the hunt for his mate's heart....
To the listener: This story is filled with heart-pounding romance, pause-resisting adventure, and some awesome sexy times. For me Abbey was a bit too naive and too stubborn to be mature enough to be ready to settle down with a mate. Quentin needed a kick up the arse to go after what he wanted- but at least he manned up.
This is the first book I have read/listened to by this author and I will be reading others as the world she has created is a good one, but for me this particular story is 3 stars.
I received a free copy of this audible short story. I have not been influenced by this in choosing to review, and my opinions are always freely and honestly given.
A very short but enjoyable shifter tale.

This was so fun to listen to! Quentin and Abby make a great couple and I loved Quentin's eventual claiming his mate attitude and actions. Here's a few things I think you should know about this PNR novella:
~ Quentin and Abby have been hooking up for months but even though he knows she's his mate he hasn't really broached the subject with her. This is due to "the charming and funny details of a shifter-filled small town" that's mentioned in the blurb. Apparently her wolf pack doesn't believe in cross species matings. Not so with Quentin's people and he's been subtly trying to get her to see that just because they aren't they same species doesn't mean that they can't be mates.
~ Though Abby's age isn't mentioned she felt young to me. Like early 20's. I found her a bit naive. She was also stubborn.
~ Quentin is a rock steady guy whose's also a bit too reserved - at least in the love department. His original approach to gaining Abby as his mate was so understated that he could have lost her.
~ The secondary characters were awesome. They knew what was up. Cortez, Quentin's brother, is a PITA yet pretty funny. I can't wait to listen to his story. Abby's BFF, Megan, had the goods on her girl and did her best to help Abby understand her conflicted feelings. Although I think she could have pushed a little harder on some issues.
~ J.K. Harper's writing is smooth and captivating. She also made me feel unease. I knew that Quentin and Abby would end up together because this is a romance but I couldn't quite ignore the niggling feeling that Abby might fold to the traditions of her people. That feeling was totally unexpected and I actually enjoyed it. It may be weird but oh well. I think it's fantastic when an author is able to pull different emotions from their readers.
~ Beth Roeg's narration = audio goodness. I had no problem burrowing into the story. She brought the words to life in lovely ways. I enjoyed her pace and speech patterns. I do think there could have been more emotion in her performance. And perhaps a bit more definition between the characters.
HUNTER'S MOON was the first of Harper's work that I've read/listened to. I'm really happy that I tried her and can't wait to start the next book in the series.
Psst... It's already loaded on my iPod!
