About this listen
It’s not stealing if you’re stealing it back…
Ari had a game plan for life: shoot people. Get money. Hang out with fellow criminal friends. He saw absolutely no reason to change that plan until one dark night in Memphis, when a little girl reached out to him with pocket change and a desperate plea for him to help her.
Adopting an abused little girl off the streets was, needless to say, not part of the plan. Ari had no idea what he was doing with an eight year old. He especially didn’t know how to juggle taking contracts and raising a little girl.
Things get more complicated when the mercenary, Carter Harrison, approaches him with a job. He needs Ari’s expertise to get into the very high-security museum, Knowles, and steal back Monet’s Water Lily Pond. The job isn’t an easy one. He’d need more than the two of them to make it happen. It’s further complicated because Ari’s not sure what to do with his new daughter while working this job.
And for that matter, how’s he supposed to handle the sexy mercenary?

I enjoyed it all, but I do think it could've done with being slightly longer as the relationship wasn't really fully settled in book!
Towards the end, it focused too much on the heist & the relationship was kinda left in limbo. Yes, they became a couple, yes they all made a good team, however the last part that actually dealt with their relationship, they'd neither consummated their relationship nor had they even slept 😴 together & Ari was still skittish... so, it neither felt fulfilling nor completed, IMO!
The next books deal with Ivan's & Kyou's relationships... so, I doubt we'll get any in depth look at Ari's & Carter's love story.
& although I do really like Remy, the author is running the risk of turning her into a Mary Sue & she's only 8, but a savant in all areas... it became a bit much for me!
Also, the same way that young boys without fathers need a male figure... so do little girls need a female figure. There are many aspects to being a woman that only another woman can really help you with in your formative years. I had hoped that at least Carter's sister Maddison would become a fixture, but alas no such luck!
So, it's definitely good, but there were some areas that felt a bit lacking IMO!
definitely worth a listen!

Ari and Carter are just so wonderful together!
And Remi!! Omg that girl’s got guts.
Absolutely loved this story, took a guess on it and was thrilled, certainly loved the bonus chapter being Remi and Ari’s meeting in her POV it was so sweet how she regarded him as a prince!
Such a good listen!
Where in the hell do I start!! Omg this story….

Story - a light feeling plot despite many heavier themes and past traumas in a number of the characters. Carter's careful care of Ari was quite special. I particularly enjoyed Remi and the banter between the group. There was enough plot to keep it moving well.
amusing
