About this listen

It's all been leading to this.

Jolie Benoit has become a skilled agent of the Underlight, relying on her savvy to complete assignments while Sergeant Wesley Haukon was out of commission. But an unexpected clue to the Order of Ananke's diabolical scheme rattles Jolie, and she turns to Hauk for comfort.

It's been years since Hauk took comfort from the touch of another person, though his love for Jolie is deep and powerful. Uncomfortable in his skin, scarred by a terrible fire, he is unable to give in to the pleasures that Jolie so desperately wants to grant him.

Meanwhile, the Order is lurking in the shadows - and when they strike, the blow is swift and terrible. Hauk and Jolie scramble to fight for their community, but with the future of the Underlight threatened, no one is safe. And Hauk will never be the same....

Where does How Beauty Loved the Beast rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This one ranks very high among my favourites to listen to. I've listened to it several times and it's become one of my comfort listens. It cheers me up every time and fills me with the warm and fuzzies.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I have a special warm spot in my heart for Catrina, she's so down to earth and warm, loving, funny... And she has all this no-nonsense wisdom.

What about Therese Plummer’s performance did you like?

Therese Plummer is my favourite reader now. She has a delightful voice and she really invests herself in the story. Often in books with strong erotic content, you can tell the narrator is not very comfortable and is holding back. Plummer goes for it, without going over the top, to give a nuanced but sexy performance. Love her to bits!

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed a lot and I squealed like the fan girl I am a lot. :)

Any additional comments?

I don't generally read romance, paranormal or otherwise, as a first choice but a friend made me listen to the first audiobook of this series and now I have definitely taken to the genre. Very, very fun!

So much fun!

The first book was a recommended sample and from there I was hooked on this trilogy. Pacing in all the books is a problem but the story itself makes up for it. Definitely recommend

loved the whole thing

Hauk and Jolie are my favourite couple so far in 2013, this retelling of Beauty and the Beast had me grinning from ear to ear, there's humour, angst, determination until you get a culmination of events were you are not quite sure whether they will get over the impossible odds.
Both the lead stars are real characters with an edge that kept me listening, I loved it. Paranormal Romance is a guilty pleasure of mine, there is so much dross out there and here is a series that has put my faith back in the genre..bravo.
I must add that Therese Plummer caught Jolies character perfectly which added to my enjoyment.

A Guilty Pleasure!
