Good
Didn’t find the storyline as gripping as normal and dragged a bit in the beginning. Got more into it the longer I progressed through the book.

Compelling intriguing murder hostage mystery
Brilliant compelling hostage murder mystery really enjoyed this book so many twists with a brilliant ending, a good insight into journalism, narration was very good

A predictable outcome
I had high expectations of this book having enjoyed Val McDermind's other titles very much. This story, however, seemed to reveal itself too early. The reader's very strong local accent masked other accents she tried to mimic from Russion to Geordie and that became very distracting.

Pros and cons
Having read other books in this series I thought this story had a good storyline with various twists and turns. The ending was a bit far-fetched but otherwise very imaginative. Unfortunately the accents (especially Northern Irish) were somewhat off the mark which took away from the listening enjoyment in places.

Ruined by the narrator
This was a goof story with many twists and turns. The narration was however awful with numerous unsuccessful attempts at regional or international accents. It’s such a shame.

The narrator’s accents were excruciating, apart from her own native scots. The story was good if a little predictable

Clunky
I wonder when this was written. Whenever, it sounds laboured and clunky. The portrayal of Irish characters isn’t pleasant. Finally, it’s just not worth listening to. Life’s too short.
