Enjoyed this book , largely due to the excellent narration bringing each character to life .

Engrossing story

Conditions during the early to mid 19th century were difficult for the labouring class and dire for the poor. The horrors of the Crimean War are graphically described and yet this is an uplifting tale.

Narration was irritating throughout but I enjoyed the contents of the story. Spoken at a whisper most of the time it distracted from the actual story. Shame.
