About this listen

A story of falling out of love from the winner of the Comedy Women in Print Award, for fans of Monica Heisey and Dolly Alderton

'A thoughtful and tender take on the concept of "home"' Pandora Sykes

MOVING IN. GROWING UP. FALLING OUT OF LOVE.

Mara’s first year in London hasn’t gone to plan. A hostile housemate and endless tube journeys to see her elusive boyfriend, Tom, weren’t on her vision board.

So when the chance to find her own place arises, Mara is hopeful. She’s desperate for somewhere to start her ‘real life’ – with linen bedding, fresh flowers on the table, and Tom.

But between noisy new neighbours and Tom pushing her away, Mara is about to discover that things aren’t going to be quite so easy to fix.

'The novel completely pulled me in from the outset … I found it a really moving, observant, convincing read and I know so many twenty-somethings will see themselves in Mara' Niamh Hargan

'This is a heart-warmingly relatable novel that will seriously hit home if you've ever felt overwhelmed or slightly out of place in a big city like London' Cosmopolitan

'Warm, honest, beautifully written' Liz Hoggard, writer and judge of CWIP 2023

Absolutely delightful, best one I've read in a while. Impeccable narration too. A real treat that reflects contemporary life in London and beyond.

What a treat!

Really enjoyed listening to this book. The narrator was excellent. Loved the characters and thought it was very relatable in terms of living in London and buying your first property and also friendships and relationships. It flowed really well and I liked the writing style.

I was expecting it to be funny but for me, it wasn't at all, but it didn't detract from the enjoyment of the book apart from wondering when it was going to start being funny.

Lovely book overall. Would definitely recommend.

Enjoyable and well written
