Hebrews is about persevering in the faith. Written concerning the Jewish Christians, this letter serves as a reminder that Christ is superior to priests, angels, and the old covenant laws. His sacrifice is once and for all unlike the sacrificial system. While Jewish Christians have been less focused on growing in godliness, this letter encourages them to "...lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely...run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus..." (Heb. 12:1-2).
