About this listen

Book 9 in the Gaunt's Ghosts series.

Returning from a long mission, Gaunt finds that his Ghosts are no more. Assigned to a new unit, he must fight to be reunited with his men and save them all from a deadly threat.

Listen because....

It's the end of Gaunt's Ghosts! No, really, the Tanith First has been disbanded, and Gaunt has been sent elsewhere. What will it take to draw them back together? How about a stonking big Chaos attack...?

The story:

The Tanith First are no more. Moved into another regiment under a charismatic new commander, the loyalties of the former Ghosts are put to the test when Colonel-Commissar Gaunt, long believed dead, returns. As the enemy overrun the Imperial forces, clashing with Crusade command, and suspected of harbouring the taint of Chaos, Gaunt must fight not only to be reunited with his Ghosts, but to stop all their lives being thrown away in an unwinnable war.

Written by Dan Abnett. Read by Toby Longworth. Running time approximately ten hours and 19 minutes.

This is a fantastic story, starts of a bit wobbly but builds to a brilliant crescendo. I won't ruin the story, but Abnett does a wonderful job of winding through the ups and downs of the campaign with intrigue, deception, all with Gaunts characteristic flair. The ending was also the most touching out of the series so far for me, "greater love hath no man but to lay down his life for his friends". Very good book.

Absolutely loved it! Guant back as just a commissar and finding his feet and the Tanith adjusting to their new command, truly gripped throughout.

Dan Abnett's brilliant work, which I've read time and time again, brilliantly brought to life by Toby Longworth.

This gripping piece of 40K fiction brought smiles and tears and hopes and fears, and it truly comes to life in a spectacular way with Toby's narration.

If I could give it more than five stars, I would!

A must listen for anyone anywhere, even if you arent a fan of fiction - cause then you surely will be afterwards.

Effing brilliant!
