Wonderful ending to a lovely series

As it's a Heather McCollum, I soldiered on thinking that it would be turned on its head & I'd be proven wrong... but it only got marginally better at the very end when Hannah made a sensible decision... at long last!
I think Hannah's character & belief in Erik would've better suited Bäs's story as that was what he really needed not a dumb woman who needed to be told what was so blatantly obvious, especially after telling him that his Death persona shouldn't be put totally to rest, but was handy in moments of war...
The author attempted to rewrite Hannah's history, but she was incredibly dumb, naive & foolhardy in the 1st book.
I thought she'd been a child, but realised with this book that she'd been 26 at that time & that makes it even worse!
She shows no growth whatsoever in this book as she's still incredibly dumb!
She's abducted at a Queen's behest, as said monarch wants to use her against her brothes & rather than attempt to flee her abductors, she convinces herself that she can talk to & convince said "deranged" Queen that her brothers mean the Queen no harm... as if the Queen would just take a captive person's word for it... massive facepalm!
Secondly, she doesn't even spare a thought for what her sister-in-law must be going through & acts as though her abduction is a wonderful getaway!
To me, she juat came about as a woman desperate for ANY kind of attention, even the most toxic kind... which is exactly how she came across in the 1st book, so back to square one!
The nieces annoyed me as well... in the real world, they would've been dead a thousand times over!
I would've preferred if they'd gotten to know each other AFTER she was abducted, but as it was written... it just made all the Sinclair clan look dumb, especially Bäs, who noticed in the previous book that the warrior wasn't who he was claiming to be, yet here he brushed his misgivings aside for no good reason!
I also couldn't really warm to Erik as he was trying to do to an innocent what he didn't want done to his sister... there were a million different ways to solve it, including talking to both of the Queen's children, changing his mind after meeting the clan & seeking their help or even finding a way to save his sister without involving innocent people...had that been the case, I might've changed my mind about him...but as it stood, I really could not!
Also, that she acted surprised when she'd overheard that she needed to be a virgin... did that really not set off any alarm bells?! As I said... a truly foolish character from the first book to the last!
