About this listen

Hey,

Over here.

No, look up.

Yeah, I’m the one they talk about. The headmaster’s prized possession, locked away in the bell tower of Notredame Parochial College. To most of the students, I was just a myth.

An urban legend.

The girl who rings the bells up in the tower, the one who talks to gargoyles.

Frollo’s secret.

Then they showed up, those heathens. Outcasts, just like me. But these men aren’t just dangerous, they’re heartless. They won’t abide or bend to the rules of this deranged school and the secrets it keeps from the world.

Now that they’ve found me, they may never let me go. And maybe I wouldn’t want them to....

Heartless Heathens is a dark why-choose gothic romance loosely inspired from major points of Victor Hugo's Notre Dame de Paris. This is not a retelling, it is not a fractured fairy tale. This story does not involve any characters of Romani descent. The female main character will not choose between the love interests in this story.

This is a corruption story, there are no heroes here. Please take the author's note and content warning into consideration. This book is dark and graphic in nature, touching topics that may not be suitable for listeners under 18.

Dark Why Choose Gothic Romance

Heartless Heathens by Santana Knox is a dark why choose gothic romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Celia Stone and Corvin King.

This is the first book of Santana's that I have read, and it won't be my last. I was pulled in from the very beginning and couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next. I loved the relationship between Romina, Felix, Sonny, and Corvin. The chemistry between them was off the charts! I really enjoyed getting Romina, Felix, Sonny, Corvin, and Frollo's points of views throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.

I originally read the book and was so excited when I saw it was coming to audio and I was not disappointed. Celia and Corvin did a great job on the narration. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.

I would highly recommend this book if you like dark romances, why choose romances, or gothic romances.

Heartless Heathens

This book is loosely inspired from major points of Victor Hugo’s Notre dame De Paris and can I just say that I LOVED these references through out this book. While I am not usually a fan of books with strong religious undertones it worked so well in this book. I found myself unable to put this one down. I highly recommend it.

A heathen indeed

This dark why choose gothic romance was incredible as a book and the audio version was so good! The narrators suited the roles and kept me interested throughout the dialogues. The way they brought the chemistry in this story alive was eargäsm worthy.

Heartless heathens…

I’ve always liked the word heathens. So this story captured my attention. While I’m not a fan of gothic romance, I enjoyed this audio. The story and the dialogue kept you engaged until the last word was spoken. The narrators suited their role and added to the overall experience.

5/5

Once I started Heartless Heathens I didn't wasn't to stop listening. Set in the not too distant future the actions of the present have changed then world drastically. Heartless Heathens has elements of The Hunchback of Notre Dame with technology present. Romina lists in the bell tower of Notre Dame but no one but the priest knows of her existence. There are rumors amongst the student body but no one thinks she actually exists. Enter Sonny, Felix and Corvin who find her and disrupt her world, challenging everything she thought she knew. This steamy why-choose gothic romance pits beliefs against each other and was so very interesting. I loved how each the guys have a different relationship with her which only strengthens their bond. Romina explores her dark side and desires while learning to love and protect herself and the men she loves.

I received this audiobook for free from Pink Flamingo Productions and Audiobook Obsessions. This is my honest and voluntary review.

Weird And Wonderful 🌶️🔥

Rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5
Format: 🎧🎧
Length: 13hrs 41mins
Genre: Dark Romance, Reverse Harem
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️.5/5

This was HOT 🔥🔥 Immediately from the first sentence the spice was there, giving you a little teaser of what’s to come. The dynamic between the guys and the fmc was one of my favourite components of this book. It's definitely an enemies to lovers story, with every one of the mmc’s crazy psychopaths, each on different levels of extreme on the morally grey scale. They all had their own demons too which gave them that much more depth.

Romina is a little broken, locked up in a bell tower her entire life by the sadistic professor of the gothic style academy. And this is where The Notre Dame retelling comes into play, but I thought it had elements of Tangled/ rapunzel in it too! The mmc’s nurse her back to becoming a stronger woman, corrupting her in the best possible way and really bringing her out of her shell by introducing her to the outside world. And I have to admit, it’s beautiful. She is a virgin, and I know people are not keen on that, so just keep that in mind!

I did not expect to love this, considering I’m very 50/50 about books with a religious, satanic undertone. But it DID feel fictional in that aspect, and for that I could look over it.

The pacing was perfect, seamlessly flowing from chapter to chapter without any awkward or boring moments. You really never get bored, not even once!

I will say one thing, this book was not as dark as I previously envisioned, so if you’re a little apprehensive because of the triggers, I wouldn’t let that stop you. The only real intense part of this story was the spice and the religious factor, but I would suggest to double check the trigger warnings just incase something I find ok, you might find not to your liking/ taste. I have only just scratched the surface of what really lies beneath the book’s pages, so if you love dark romance that tow’s the line of taboo, I highly suggest you try this, it’s made for you!

My Thoughts on Heartless Heathans

This book was definitely high on the dark romance factor, but I loved every moment of it. It was very different from anything else I’ve ever read. I know I’ll be checking out more from this author though. It all flowed so well that it had my attention the whole time and the steamy scenes were absolute fire. I found all the characters to be well developed and interesting with their own back stories and baggage to work through. The narration was really good and I enjoyed both of their voices individually but I did find that I wished there’d been more distinction between the three guys, or maybe even two more narrators so each guy had his own distinct sound.

Amazing!

Heartless Heathens was an amazing book itself, but once Corvin and Celia got on the audiobook, it became an even more captivating story! They did such an amazing job bringing Romina and her boys to life, especially the spicy scenes! 🥵🔥🫠 Corvin and Celia made a great team and I can't wait to listen to more of their work in the future!
