Amazing series all around
I have loved every book in the series that I've read/listened to but this one has to be my favorite. There were multiple plot points and everyone of them was interesting, well written and made this story dramatic in the best ways possible. From Jackson's parentage to the fraternization issue and the boss/assistant relationship...there was just so much going on and it was written so well. The flow of the story was fluid and I was totally engrossed in the plot. Serena and Wyatt were such great characters and had such strong opposites attract chemistry. I absolutely loved their interactions, in every facet of their relationship. It was a great book on so many levels.
As good as the story was, the audio elevated the experience for me. I am not a huge fan of an audiobook in third-person, but the duet style narration alleviated any issues I may have with it. These characters have such strong personalities and the narrators really brought them to life. Gideon Frost is one of my all time favorites and Addison Barnes voice was so lyrical and beautiful to listen to for long periods of time. Adding in a third narrator, Zachary Johnson, to voice the other male characters was a great addition and made it that much more pleasant to listen to.

Cute and hot hockey story
Yummy hockey romance! Plenty of spice and a decent amount of angst and intrigue. All's well that ends well and I'm giddy over the {unexpected} ending. Loved the duet narration. I thought the narrators' voices were perfectly cast.

I love the redemption
Wyatt has been a major player for a while and has created a massive headache for the club and the PR department. So when Serena is in trouble and he rescues her, she’s not falling over herself to thank him. The way they slowly get to know each other and falling in love is wonderful and I love the character growth. I hope you will love it too. The narration is amazing and I highly recommend it.

This might just be my favorite book in the series so far.
I always love getting to read about a character who has been given a bad look in previous books and learn about them and see why they are the way they are, and let me tell you Wyatt’s story did not disappoint!
This book was so full of character growth and development. We all have a preconceived opinion about Wyatt, from Mac’s book, but we get to see why he was behaving badly, but we also get to see that he has already made some changes and this book is full of so much more.
I love the banter between Serena & Wyatt, Serena, like us, didn’t have a high opinion of Wyatt, but circumstances brought them together in a new context.
Serena got to see behind Wyatt’s bad boy behavior, and start to build on a tentative friendship.
This was full of intense energy, tumultuous pasts, loving family (& a side of toxic family members), toxicity at work, friendships, hockey, banter, hopefulness, spice and love.
It was filled with working hard, growth & maturity, self reflection, & change.
The duet narration with Addison Barnes, Gideon Frost & Zachary Johnson was incredible!

Character Growth
Guarding the Crease can be read as a stand alone, and it may actually be better as a stand alone because Wyatt Tompkins is not romance hero material in the earlier books in the series. He's not exactly romance hero material at the beginning of this book either. G.K. Brady does a great job of bringing out some redeeming qualities and showing the personal growth throughout the book. I'm still someone who likes to read series in order and there are other characters from previous books that appear in this one, so I don't regret reading the series in order. I never would have guessed that Wyatt would get his own book based on previous appearances, so this book started with a surprise for me.
I also sure that listening to the audio version made the story better. It was narrated by three voice actors: Gideon Frost, Zachary Johnson and Addison Barnes. It was what I would have called duet style if there had just been two narrators, so maybe it would be called multi-cast? The male character voices were always spoken by the male narrators and the female parts by female. The audio version was easy to listen to.
I received a copy of the audiobook at my request, and the opinions here are my own.

Good listen
This one is far more than just a sports romance! Inside, you'll find family drama, found family, character growth, dislike to love, and more. This book will certainly have at least one thing you'll really enjoy.
At first, I wasn't sure how I felt about either character, Wyatt, especially, but as the story went on and they each started to show more growth, I grew to enjoy them. These two were a ton of fun once they hit it off, and they go through enough together that you definitely won't be bored.
I listened to this one on audiobook, and it was really well done. There were moments that were voiced so perfectly that it was like overhearing a conversation instead of being read something. Each narrator did a great job, and I look forward to hearing more from them.

🎧🎧AUDIO REVIEW🎧🎧
There are two aspects of my experience with this story that stand out. One is the duet narration, and the other is the character redemption arc. I say arc because Wyatt, the person needing redeeming, has not been a fave of mine in this series. In fact, while devouring this series via Everand, I didn’t even realize he was going to be a MC at some point in the future. I can’t tell you how much I love it when an author takes a secondary character of previous books and redeems their ”personality and antics” in their own book. I dunno, it just sparks a little bit of hope for all the (insert word I cannot use on vendor sites lol) characters out there! LOL I’ve seen this done in other books by other authors, but it really isn’t done enough! Now, about the narration … it stood out because of how outstanding Gideon Frost & Addison Barnes alongside Zachary Johnson were dueting this story. Third person isn’t even a way I normally like to listen to audiobooks, but they just captivated me from the start and I kinda didn’t even notice for most of the story! That is some seriously good narrating! Well done!
I would be remis if I didn’t tell you that I wasn’t the biggest fan of the “outside forces”/conflicts happening outside of the relationship but having an impact on the journey, nonetheless. The main reason I wasn’t a fan is because in the end, all that nonsense was just kinda left out there to float. I don’t know any other way to describe it. If you’re going to write conflict plot points that go one thru practically the entire story, imma need some serious and defining resolutions. I really dislike when that doesn’t happen, and it didn’t happen with this one. It’s a minor issue for me because honestly, the relationship build and character growth that surrounds the main characters was very well done and wasn’t overshadowed by the shenanigan nonsense! I did however mentally scream FFS a lot. LOL

AUDIO: 5+ Stars
OVERALL: 4.5 not round up stars! I should round up to 5 because the audio portion was so well done, but I can’t do it for this one. *shrug*

Great storyline
When you need a knight in shining armour there’s no better than a hunky hockey player. This is a lovely book with yummy sounding narrators!!

Fantastic redemption arc
This was my favourite book in the series. It had me laughing and fuming and swooning and I was so sad when it ended.
This is the 9th and final book in the Playmakers series (there’s also a prequel novel) and we were treated to not only duet style narration, but multicast. (The rest of the series was performed in dual style). The book is told in 3rd person dual POV. It’s a nemesis to lovers, secret workplace romance between a hockey player and the team’s PR Director. This can be read as a standalone, but there’s a bit of a spoiler for book 6 in this book.
I started this series with book 6 and that’s when I met Wyatt Tompkins, the self-absorbed back up goalie who was the bane of that MMC’s existence. So imagine my confusion when I found myself falling for him halfway through the book. I love a good villain redemption story and Wyatt did a complete turn around in this book. Not only do we find out why he was the way he was, making us a bit more sympathetic towards him, he experiences a lot of growth through out the stories and wins over his teammates as well as us the readers.
I loved Serena. She’s such strong, confident boss babe who deserves all the love and attention Wyatt showers on her. Serene and Wyatt are opposites and it makes them perfect for each other. Wyatt is playful and reckless and Serena is career driven and lacks a social life. They balance each other out and They have such great chemistry and I loved see in their friendship grow throughout the book. The spicy scenes are the hottest in the whole series.
Like the rest of the series, this book has strong found family vibes. The players on the team are amazing. They’re a close-knit family that supports each other and adds a lot of humour to the story with their banter. I loved how the team gave Wyatt a chance to redeem himself and then supported him in his time of need.
There is so much drama (work and family drama) in this story and so many devious characters. I think that’s another reason this is my favourite book. I love a good story where the villain gets their comeuppance. Also, I love an unhinged MMC and Wyatt went a little unhinged defending Serena’s honour.
The duet multicast narration made for such an immersive listening experience. Gideon Frost and Addison Barnes, who play the main characters, are completely new to me and Zachary Johnson, who plays all the other male characters, is fairly new to me and they were absolutely phenomenal. Their performance was so expressive conveying emotion that really brought the characters to life. They really acted out their roles, I never felt like I was being read to. They had the story playing in my head like a movie.
I highly recommend this book is you like secret workplace romance with a flawed, misunderstood MMC, a sassy boss babe FMC, loveable side characters as well as villainous side characters, a redemption story, and some hot spice.
