THE INSTANT NO. 1 SUNDAY TIMES BESTSELLER

‘A wonderful, gritty, explosively violent, and beautifully realised debut’
DAILY MAIL

‘GODKILLER will have you in its grasp from the first pages’
Samantha Shannon, bestselling author of PRIORY OF THE ORANGE TREE

You are not welcome here, godkiller

Kissen’s family were killed by zealots of a fire god. Now, she makes a living killing gods, and enjoys it. That is until she finds a god she cannot kill: Skedi, a god of white lies, has somehow bound himself to a young noble, and they are both on the run from unknown assassins.

Joined by a disillusioned knight on a secret quest, they must travel to the ruined city of Blenraden, where the last of the wild gods reside, to each beg a favour.

Pursued by demons, and in the midst of burgeoning civil war, they will all face a reckoning – something is rotting at the heart of their world, and only they can be the ones to stop it.

Strong characters and a story that weaves together

This story drew me deeper and deeper into the world of Kissen and Enara in a way I didn’t expect. Very enjoyable!

A great story

Very enjoyable, a good start to the series, absolutely no fluff at all. I think maybe there could have actually been a little
More fluff/filler. All journeys seem very short. Other than that no complaints re the story.

Narrator has a strange style which I found a little grating at times but nothing to the detriment of the book.

A magical, outstanding read

From start to finish, this book had me captivated by it's complex characters and interwoven storyline. The story develops at a good pace allowing for fascinating character development which keeps you gripped to the end. I could not wait to hear what happened next.

Perfect

Just what I was after, good characters, interesting world building, steady plot. None of the vapid romantasy rubbish that’s become a plague on this genre. There is light romance in parts but overall the characters have far more important and interesting things to be thinking about, much to my relief. So glad books that focus on plot and character are still being published.

A good fantasy novel

From the start of this book, I was bit unsure of what was going on. Some of the names and locations were slightly confusing. But it improved in the second half and I liked the character Elogast; his loyalty, bravery and his overall humanity.

Great warm characters you care about despite their hard edges.

loved the narrator and a great story, you are unsure who to route for initially but the rough edges of the characters are quickly softened through explanation of why they are how they are. The movement between chapters and the past and present is clear and well ordered. one of my favourite listens of recent years.

Great story, brilliantly told

I grew to adore these characters and the warmth with which their stories were told. The world felt unique and the descriptions were vivid and beautiful yet felt grounded. I felt so protective of them all at the end, and the very end itself was satisfyingly delivered. The narration was perfectly paced and spoken engagingly. One of the best books I’ve read (listened to?) this year.

Intertwined stories easy to follow

A nice tale, easy to follow. It’s one of those stories you can listen to while working doing chores etc.

I enjoyed the pace and description from the narrator, it allowed me to paint a picture in my mind. The only slight I have is during the narrator’s performance when dealing with a powerful god her voice didn’t fit well, I wanted to hear power if that makes sense. Just my personal opinion and no offence intended.
