I had this book for my nephew, who’s bright but struggled socially, started school. He was always ahead academically, but he felt different from his peers, and it caused him to retreat emotionally. This audiobook really tells how to support kids like him — not just their intellect, but their emotional needs too. It talks about how to advocate for them at school and help them build confidence without making them feel like they have to fit into a box. It reminded me that being gifted is about nurturing a child’s creativity and empathy. If you’ve ever worried about a child who’s too advanced for their age but still needs support, this one’s worth listening to.

This book is highly interesting to listen to and an eye-opener that really rose my consciousness about the reasons behind gifted children's behaviors. Among the gifted, it also details a special group -- "E2" children who are "double" exceptions - both highly intelligent and gifted, with some learning disabilities. An example would be a brilliant child who converses fluently on an adult level but struggles with dyslexia in writing tasks.
The overriding message of the book is that gifted children display traits that are atypical and should not be handled according to the average "one-size fits all" approach of most education or parenting systems. Recognizing and adjusting to this can make all the difference between raising a socially well-adjusted child whose gifts can develop freely, as opposed to one who is misunderstood and maladjusted.
Notably, a gifted child can be intellectually on the level of many adults, while emotionally still a child or even more reactive than most children, due to their high intelligence and sensitivity. This means that they can have trouble relating to peers who are not like them or with being accepted by groups and may need some support that adults would not anticipate since these children are otherwise very advanced.

These are key insights that parents need to have to raise their children well and prevent mistakes that could have grave consequences for the wellbeing of their children and the development of healthy social and familial relationships.
The book offers solid, practical advice on how to adjust to the needs of these children so that we understand them and they can thrive. At the same time, it explains typical pitfalls to avoid pivotal misunderstandings and mistakes. I especially like the "stop and reflect" sections that replaced conclusions at the end of the chapters. They invite the reader to digest the information and practically apply it to their own experience.
This book is a much needed resource for parents in a world that likes generalizations and may judge children by generic standards that may not always apply. Highly recommended.

his audiobook is super easy to read and gives you tons of helpful advice for supporting your gifted kid. It explains how to handle those big emotions that sometimes lead to meltdowns, which is honestly so useful.

One of the coolest parts is how it shows you ways to talk to schools, so your kid gets what they need to succeed. Plus, it has awesome tips for helping with perfectionism and anxiety, which I know a lot of kids struggle with.

The activities it suggests are really fun and practical, so you can keep your kid learning and growing without them getting bored. It’s not full of complicated stuff. Just real advice that actually works.

If you’re a parent trying to help your gifted kid thrive, this book is 100% worth it. It’s clear, easy to follow, and super helpful.
