Well written, enjoyable story about complex family relationships. The characters were well drawn although towards the end the plot became a little bit too close to soap opera. That aside, the sections set in Hong Kong were fascinating, revealing a culture and a time in our recent past we don't get to hear about. The performances were great too. Can't wait for Wiz Wharton's next book!

I genuinely loved this book. It's not something I'd have chosen to read by myself but it was this month's book club book. I thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish.

The two narrators were absolutely perfect as well.

This is the kind of book you’re dying to finish but also never want to end. So rich and immersive, interesting and thoughtful, hopeful and sad - could use endless words to describe it and all of them would be positive. The narration was also excellent.
