Heinrich Heine, 1797 in Düsseldorf geboren, gest. 1856 in Paris, wo er seit 1831 lebte; einer der Hauptvertreter des Jungen Deutschland. In spätromantischen Gedichten verbindet er Empfindungsreichtum mit Skepsis und Ironie (Buch der Lieder 1827; Romanzero 1851). Sein geistvoller und plaudernder Prosastil (Reisebilder 1826 bis 1831) machte ihn zum Begründer des modernen Feuilletonismus.
