About this listen
Brought to you by Penguin.
Whether you are struggling with self-doubt or lacking purpose, these 76 short motivational lessons from the multiple world-record holder Josh Patterson will give you the boost you need.
When Josh set out to break the world record and run 76 marathons around the UK’s 76 cities in 76 days he knew it would be a test of determination and resilience, but he hadn't realised that his past struggles would provide the real strength he needed to cross the finish line.
Having suffered with depression and come close to suicide in the past, Josh ran to raise money for the Samaritans and as he ran through the wind and rain, sometimes with crowds of supporters, sometimes alone, he often drew upon the memories of his darkest days to spur him on, knowing that there were happier times ahead.
This is a collection of the 76 powerful lessons that fuelled Josh to reach the finish line – and will inspire you to reach yours, whatever that might look like – including:
Memories are motivation
There is no such thing as failure, only a lesson to be learned
Don’t be too proud to ask for help
Look at how far you’ve come
Focus on progress over perfection
Your thoughts don’t define you
This isn't a book about running; it is about how to find light in the dark and rise from the ashes, and how to find the strength to achieve whatever you put your mind to.

A very special book that finds you when you need it!
What an incredible book. It found me when I needed it the most. Joshua is raw and honest. You’ll want to bookmark lots of places to go back for important guidance that he delivers. It’s broken down nicely with each chapter. You almost feel as though are sitting in therapy with someone who has come out the other side and can give you hope that if you are brave enough then you can do anything. I loved it so much I bought a copy for a hospital ward to help someone get through a tough time when they felt like they didn’t feel brave enough. Joshua gives hope and strength. Believe it when I say this book magically finds you when you need it the most. Forget any self help books you just need this as your handbook to bravery.

Fantastic tangible lessons for life.
You don’t need to be an ultra marathoner to resonate with the lessons in this book. These are lessons for life. Each chapter is short and punchy and leaves you feeling motivated and inspired.
Top bloke and top book.

Robotic, boring and passionless reading.
This book could have been great, the idea behind it is a a good one. The execution though is poor. The reading is the worst I’ve ever heard, especially when read by the author. It’s read with zero passion or excitement and just sounds boring, monotonous and robotic. Got half way through and had to stop because of it.
The content itself is forgettable, it’s split into ‘lessons’ apparently but I couldn’t tell you a single one from memory. Every chapter or lesson was just the same with him talking about the same things.
What’s he’s done is amazing, and I know he’s a passionate person and I do really like him.
Josh if you ever read this review, PLEASE do a re-read of this audiobook and put your spirit into it. Show us that passion, let us hear it in your voice.
