About this listen
When a bookworm on borrowed time meets a younger free-spirited chicken farmer, sparks and feathers fly....
Harrison Phillip Fletcher III isn't supposed to be here. Not in Burlington, Vermont, not running Vino & Veritas, a quaint inclusive bookstore and wine bar, and definitely not still alive, at 42. Also not supposed to be here? An unexpected delivery of chickens.
Finn Barnes knows chickens. The burly organic farmer knows all about rare breed poultry, but dealing with a hot older bookseller is an entirely different matter. City-slicker types like Harrison never end up staying in Vermont for the long-term.
They should steer clear of each other. But the flare of attraction is mutual. And somehow amid book discussions and farm tours, they discover plenty in common. Now they're stealing kisses in Finn's barn, sneaking out like teens, and burning up the sheets.
What starts as a fling brings very real feelings for two lonely souls, but a future together seems as unlikely as chickens in a bookstore. Feathers may be flying, but learning to trust takes time neither may have. Can they take a leap of faith together before it's too late?
Contains mature themes.

It's a low angst and easy listen that doesn't require your solid attention to keep track of, Harrison & Finn are sweet together overall, there wasn't a ton of depth to the story or their development as a couple but I found it entertaining. It is book one of a multi author shared world series that I will sprinkle in between other reads I think considering when I looked there is around 18 of them so far and it will introduce me to some new authors and let me read books from ones I already enjoy. Alexander Cendese & Kirt Graves were great in their performances and I think each actors voice complimented the characters personality that they were voicing.

I never made it to the end.
The first problem was Alexander Cendese. He really is a terrible reader. He runs one sentence into another so you can't work out what he's saying. His cadence makes no sense and he has some problems figuring out some sentences. It's like he's got somewhere else he would rather be and he just wants the reading over and done with and can't be bothered to get it right. It is made worse by the fact that Kirt Graves is a really good reader. Mr. Cendese's high squeaky voice was also totally wrong for the big strapping farmer. It did not suit him at all. When will the higher-ups at Audible realise they are in the business of producing audiobooks and needs to spend more time and effort getting these details right?
The second problem was the story. The relationship between these two opposites was ridiculously improbable. On occasions, the Harrison character was incredibly rude to the Finn character. But as long as they all fancy each other that doesn't seem to matter. I couldn't feel anything for either of them as they both seemed incredibly shallow.
This is one to avoid folks.
So predictable and not in a good way
