About this listen

St Andrew’s Day. A back shift from hell. A city about to erupt.

After years working as detective, Sergeant Rakesh Siyal is back in uniform and facing the hard realities of Edinburgh’s streets. With a missing teenager sucking away manpower, his frontline team have to contend with a pub fight in danger of spiralling out of control and turning into something far more dangerous.

Juggling the chaos of the night, Rakesh is called to a domestic dispute that feels all wrong – and his instincts tell him there's more lurking beneath the surface.

As he hunts for a missing dog, tensions soon rise and Rakesh must rely on more than his experience as a detective to navigate a city ready to erupt.

False Dawn follows on from events in His Path of Darkness, the sixth DI Rob Marshall novel.

Too Quality

Ed James is very good at treading the line between humour, both police and criminal and having a really gritty storyline, giving his stories a good balance of light and dark. A very well written book that sees Rakesh stretching his legs and really being able to carry the story. Angus King of course does a fantastic narration.

is this the otherside of 'Shunty?'

we join this book with Sgt Rakesh Siyal, waiting impatiently for his recall back from uniform to Detective, as with most of Ed James books the plot is up and running fast, over a few days, it starts with the late shift, where the drunks are out to provoke whoever crosses their path, and for shunty and his fellow officers to restore calm to the streets! there's lots of threads that weave in and out of the storyline pulling certain characters together where you hadn't thought they'd be. and as usual the end is nothing like you had been led towards, one surprise after another.. including what shunty will be upto in the next episode another 5🌟 offering from Ed James, roll on book 📖 3!!!
