About this listen
From the macabre mind of a Bram Stoker Award-nominated author, this heart-pounding novel of horror and psychological suspense takes a ghost hunting reality TV crew into a world they could never have imagined.
Fade to Black is the newest hit ghost hunting reality TV show. Led by husband and wife team Matt and Claire Kirklin, it delivers weekly hauntings investigated by a dedicated team of ghost hunting experts.
Episode Thirteen takes them to every ghost hunter's holy grail: the Paranormal Research Foundation. This brooding, derelict mansion holds secrets and clues about bizarre experiments that took place there in the 1970s. It's also famously haunted, and the team hopes their scientific techniques and high tech gear will prove it. But as the house begins to reveal itself to them, proof of an afterlife might not be everything Matt dreamed of. A story told in broken pieces, in tapes, journals, and correspondence, this is the story of Episode Thirteen—and how everything went terribly, horribly wrong.
"An epistolary descent into a living nightmare . . . well-written and genuinely unsettling. Fans of paranormal documentaries, ghost-hunting shows, and found-footage horror will lose their minds over this one."—Kealan Patrick Burke, Bram Stoker Award winning author of Kin
“A beautiful Russian doll of a story… Episode Thirteen hooks you, creeps you out, and then it overwhelms you. It’s House of Leaves meets Haunting of Hill House, in all the best possible ways.”—Peter Clines, NYT bestselling author of The Broken Room

Great audiobook production
The performances and production of the audiobook are great and work really well. Loses a star as I thought the story was dragged out a touch too much and the end felt a lot like House of Leaves. But other than that a must listen for found footage horror fans.

The audio is amazing!
Hats off to the team behind this production, a heroic effort indeed. The story goes too far into cosmic horror for me, but the production is amazing

Interesting ghost story in the style of House of Leaves
I enjoy this genre of science/supernatural horror and this book was a good example of it. Interesting format to have it documentary style. Might not be the ghost story some people want but I really liked it.

Creepy but the story was a bit disappointing
Amazing performances and production. The story was creepy, however, it's not my kind of haunting, since it was more cosmic horror.

Better than reviews suggest
I read a very scathing review of this book and have to say I wonder if that reviewer actually listened to the same book, I found this book to be hugely entertaining and intriguing, it had a 1950s B movie type feel but one that worthy of being an A list movie, I loved the multiple narrators and think that made the whole story so much better, my only caveat is the ending which (for me) felt almost like an afterthought and not a conclusion, overall I really enjoyed this book and would thank the author and narrators for taking me along on this tale

I really loved this horror book!
This isn’t something that I was expecting to like, but this is actually a horror book unlike any other I’ve ever read. It’s a found-footage horror book in which a bunch of paranormal investigators are filming an episode of their ghost hunting show and it all goes horribly wrong. Basically, they find what they were looking for and quickly wish they hadn’t! Some mysteries are best unsolved! It’s such a good and fun read. I wouldn’t say it’s particularly scary, but it was a lot of fun. Right up my creepy alley!

Usual but lacked depth
This story was laid out unusually in the way it was read. It was a good way to get into the characters but felt repetitive and the end was disappointing

interesting found footage story
This is a different style of writing than I'm used to, and I'm pleased the audio version had different voices for each character, otherwise I'd have been very confused!
I enjoyed the style, once I was used to it, and found the story quite compelling; found footage is always fun! The narrators did an excellent job in bringing the story to life.
I'm interested to see what else this author offers, and whether the style is similar or completely different.

Trite and Cliche
It was obvious where this book was going from the start, and while I hoped it would have some kind of twist that would surprise me at the end it didn't. It was overall frustrating and boring, and I really wish I hadn't wasted a credit or my time with it.
