About this listen

Xander Bane. The diminutive antihero you never knew you needed.

Xander Bane, a half-breed of a vampire and a demon, has been around for more than 300 years, and in that time he has been scorned by everyone with whom he crosses paths. Known infamously from the Fae War as the Abominable Butcher for his brutal killing style, Xander uses his skills working for the Assassin's Guild. Word spreads that he has broken the Vampire Pact, an accord struck at the end of the war that forbids all vampires from feeding on sentient beings, and now he's being pursued by the Peacekeepers of Le'orn, a fanatical group of mages tasked with enforcing all pacts and agreements.

Will Xander's cunning save him from the mages, or will he end up with his head on the chopping block?

A truly entertaining tale. Joshua Griffith has created a wonderfully snarky and strangely compelling character in Xander Bane. The action sequences are excellently portrayed and should slake any gorehound out there. Although I'm no prude I did find the explicit sex scenes relatively unnecessary in regards the story (although it may become a plot device in later books perhaps). Fantasy comedy is notoriously hard to write and I feel Griffith has achieved a good balance that few authors manage in this regard.

Victor Warren's narration was on point. His character voices are varied and easy to separate out. The audio quality is crisp with only a couple of noticeable breaks that do not detract from the enjoyment of this novel.

Overall I look forward to book 2 in the Xander Bane Chronicles.

First things first, I find antihero stories endlessly full-faceted fascinating and Xander Bane delivers.
The story itself doesn't invent the wheel, but it doesn't have to either because it is well-written and kept me engaged throughout!
As the title said my next DnD character or central NPCs in my homebrew campaign players just got introduced to characters inspired by this book.

The narration from Victor Warren is impressive with his vocal range to liven the story and grip you into not being able to let go.

If you like antihero stories then "Enter the Dampire" does not disappoint and would recommend it.

My new DnD character just got more juice
