Gripping WW2 novel, albeit an abridged version of Enigma, with engaging characters and excellent narration.

A really good angle on the Bletchley Park theme. I enjoyed the background detail and it is right up there with Robert Harris’s original ideas. The plot did become a bit hard to follow towards the end and needed a lot of loose ends tying up rather rapidly. But still good fun

Occcasionally dull with a lot of statistics and all the research dropped in leading to a thrilling denouement as all the puzzle pieces are put together. Not his best but sufficient to hold the attention. How the Brits survived the grey meat and weak tea described remains an enigma.

Overall a little disjointed and hard to follow at times, with insufficient development of some of the characters to make the ending meaningful. An interesting historical factual account of the workings of Second World War code breaking at times - however the surrounding narrative is generally disappointing.

The narrator had the ideal voice for the characters and setting of this book. The story is entirely credible with a clever mix of fiction based on true events. Dramatic and engaging.
