Die Erzählung stellt das Christentum in einem äußerst positiven Licht dar, der Islam kommt zwangsweise schlecht weg, ihm fehlt das, was May selbst im zehn Jahre vorher erschienen Buch "Weihnacht!" als Grundlage des Festes dargestellt hat: der Glaube an Jesus Christus und sein Erlösungswerk.
