About this listen
Welcome to the crossover event fans have been waiting for: Joanne Walker and Jane Yellowrock meet in a world not quite like either of their own, where they must find and defeat the magic that brought them there - or they just might find themselves...easy pickings!
©2011 Faith Hunter, C.E. Murphy (P)2014 Audible Inc.Unfortunately Audible UK doesn't have C.E. Murphy's series at the time of writing my review but it has been recommended to me by other Faith Hunter fans in the States and after reading this book I can understand why. I'd definitely listen to this again and will be putting in a content request for C.E. Murphy's series.
The narrators are two of my favorites Khristine Hvam is very well known, having narrated all the Jane Yellowrock series and The Chronicles Of Elantra, which is another favorite of mine. Her acting is impeccable and she will always be in my top five. Gabra Zackerman did a great job with Mercedes Lackey's tales of the 500 kingdoms. While she doesn't quite have the presence of Hvam, she has a really pleasant way of telling a tale and is able to bring to life the soul of her characters.
My only complaint is that not knowing the Walker Papers, it took me a little while to get into the story and because of this I would have liked it to be a bit longer. If I'd read the Walker Papers and didn't need to play catch up with the character, I expect I would have given it a 5 and the reviews on Audible.com are similarly positive.
Jane Yellowrock fans, don't miss out.

One tiny but irritating niggle, was the pronunciation of Amary. I suppose I'm so used to Kristine Hvam pronouncing it "ehm-ar-ee" that the other narrator saying "ah-mari" was slightly annoying. It's a small niggle but when you are so used to a specific narrator (Kristine Hvam will always be synonymous with Jane Yellowrock) pronouncing and speaking a certain way it can throw you. At one point I didn't know who was being referred to until I realised it was Amary! That being said it wasn't enough to put me off and I do believe that Kristine Hvam is an exceptional narrator, therefore an hard act to follow!
Great Collab but Slightly Irritating Narration

Audible UK does not supply any Joanne Walker books which means I had no emotional connection towards Joanne which affected my enjoyment of this story.
Khristine Hvam is an excellent narrator for the Yellowrock series and continued her good work but Gabra Zackman seemed disconnected with very little emotional connection. I'm not too sure that Khristine and Gabra were in the same studio to feed off each others narration.
The story does explain the coyote broach Jane has in her jewellery box.
The story is OK but not brilliant. I might feel more invested in the joint exercise if I was able to read the Joanne Walker Papers.
Reasonable Story - Joint effort not brilliant

Would you try another book written by Faith Hunter and C. E. Murphy or narrated by Khristine Hvam and Gabra Zackman ?
I am not sureWhat other book might you compare Easy Pickings to, and why?
I have listened to all the jane yellorock books and loved themWhat did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
The 2 narrators sounded like they had never met and recorded their pieces in different countries. I just didn't find their delivery comfortable or convincing. The other Jane Yellowrock books the narration was nearly as impressive as the writing and plotsDid Easy Pickings inspire you to do anything?
NoDisappointed with this crossover novel
