About this listen
In the darkness they lurk, waiting for the perfect moment to strike.
Danger is everywhere, and not even Quinton can protect me. Someone wants me dead and they’ll do anything to achieve their goal.
I’m back to being a rat scurrying through the halls of Corium and I know it won’t be long till I’m caught in a trap.
The only question is, can I save myself this time?
This is a dark bully romance including many triggers. For a complete list of triggers, please contact the authors or follow the link in the author's notes.
This is book two of a trilogy. King of Corium must be listened to prior to Drop Dead Queen.

I Love This Series
Drop Dead Queen by J.L. Beck and C. Hallman is a dark enemies-to-lovers bully romance that I listened to audio narrated by Zara Eden and Connor Brown. This is the second book in the Corium University Series.
This is the second book of J.L. Beck and C. Hallman's that I have read, and it won't be my last. I was pulled in from the first chapter and couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next. I am loving the messed-up relationship between Aspen and Quinton. I can't help but root for them. I really enjoyed getting both of their points of view throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.
Wow that ending!!! I can't wait to jump into the next book Broken Kingdom to get the rest of their story.
Zara and Connor did an amazing job on the narration. They both really know how to bring a story to life. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.
I would recommend this book if you like dark romances, enemies-to-lovers romances, bully romances, or romantic suspense.

Another intense book.
Aspen's fate following the dramatic climax of King of Corium creates a strong, intense start to this book. The revelations made in the first parts start small, incremental changes in Aspen's situation, though when I say small, I mean just that! Her life and fate is in the hands of unscrupulous, ruthless people. Not a comfortable place to be. Both Zara Eden and Connor Brown continue to bring the narrative to life and encourage listener's engagement. And that cliffhanger!! OMG!! 💖💖💖💖💖

Addictive!
Drop Dead Queen, the second instalment in the Corium University series, is cleverly written and even more epic than the first book. It picked up right where King of Corium ended; immediately, I was on the edge of my seat with anticipation. The plot is an elaborate web as complex as Aspen and Quinton's relationship. Their journey is emotionally charged, steamy, dark, intricate, and intense, a winding rollercoaster packed with unforeseen twists and turns. So buckle up, hang on tight, and enjoy the ride. The chemistry between them is explosive and tumultuous, a torrent of emotions entangled and tethered together, hate, outrage, frustration, need, want, desire, passion, and heartbreak. The series is addictive, the perfect formula for an enemies-to-lovers/bully romance trope. After that cliffhanger ending, I have no idea what to expect for the next book. All I can say is that I can't wait.
Stellar narration by Zara Eden and Connor Brown. Both did an incredible job honing on and embodying the characters and capturing personalities, emotions, and intensity found in the pages. They made the story even more enjoyable and engaging. Drop Dead Queen is a must-listen. I'm definitely recommending it.

Wow
That ending I am in tears for Aspen for being violated the way she was I only want revenge for the people who cruelly violated her. I can’t wait to see what Quinton does to get his and Aspen’s revenge in the next book.

Drop Dead Queen
This book broke my heart and it is a lot darker than the first - Aspen goes through it all in this. The aftermath in the woods was a highlight where we get a glimpse of Aspen and Q in their own non-Corium world but the push and pull does get a little repetitive as it did in the first book once they get back to school. I liked the idea of Aspen and Q against the world rather than just behind closed doors especially after Ren's actions at the end of book one. Instead Ren is just let off the hook then seems to become a totally different character which was a bit of a missed opportunity.
Scarlett and Brittany both continue to be the best side characters and even Anya showed more growth than Q. He needs to do a lot more growing to deserve Aspen - he's getting there but at a painfully slow pace. His relationship with Scarlett is one of the few things which gives me hope for this character.
Zara Eden and Connor Brown continue from their performances in book one; Eden showcasing Aspen's continued resilience and Brown dealing with secrets from Q's past being revealed however both made me shudder while reading Matteo. What a scumbag. I'm looking forward to their performances in book three following that harrowing ending.
My interpretation of the star system;
3 stars - I enjoyed it; would read the author again
4 stars - I really liked it; I am invested and definitely want more from this author/series
5 stars - I loved it; I engaged with this book completely until I finished it and it is one I will re-read

Aspen and Quinton!
After narrowly escaping a threat against her life Aspen returns to Corium but the threat is far from over. As she recovers she begins to see another side of Quinton however through no fault of her own she is still the most hated person in the school and the bullying against her continues to escalate. What appears to be a reprieve turns into a traumatic experience she may never recover from.
Quinton is torn before the emotional feelings he has for Aspen and the rage over her family’s actions for which he holds her responsible. He is dealing with his own family drama as well which means he isn’t there when Aspen needs someone the most and the fallout from that is sure to be extreme.
The characters of Aspen and Quinton draw you in as they take us on steamy and suspenseful ride that accelerates into a cliffhanger which leaves us wondering how they will overcome the events that have happened. I enjoyed the performance of the narrators as they brought out the conflict that Quinton was feeling as well as the strength and resilience of Aspen. 🎧 Audiobook Obsession

DROP DEAD QUEEN
Well I have to admit this series just got better. The 1st book took a bit more for me to get into it. Don't get me wrong it was good but the female narrator kinda was a bit boring. But she got more into her role in this book which made it so much better. I couldn't stop listening/ reading this book. But that ending did get me mad, that was a good cliffhangers and I'm so glad I had the 3rd book. Can't wait to get started.

💖💔
Book 2 still has the bulky romance in it but the characters grow in their dynamic. You get some answers, some 💖 and some 💔. But through it all you never want to stop listening/ reading to find out what happens next! That ending will totally make you want the next book too!!

Dark and suspenseful!
Books you cringe at, but can't stop listening to because their is that glimmer of light. This series is exactly that. We pick up book 2 where we left off, and the suspense does not let up. Just when you think Quinton and Aspen have a chance, something happens. Sometimes it's Quinton, but sometimes it's not. The hate for Aspen's family is evident, and the school is not going to let her off...ever. It's dark. It's dangerous, It's abusive. It's loving. It has it all. Quinton is a very complex character. Conflicted does not even cover his emotions. Love Aspen? Hate Aspen? Depends on the moment and his actions reflect it. Aspen needs to get stronger, though it has to be hard with all that is coming at her. And JL Beck and C Hallman are not letting up. The cliffhanger leaves us wondering and need the last installment of their story! I cannot wait to see how this all plays out. It's going to be a wild ride.
Zara Eden and Connor Brown continue their narration of these character. There is a huge cast in this series, and these two are spot on with each one. Eden plays Aspen with care. She is emotionally drained, doesn't know who she can trust and just finds the solace she needs in Quinton. Eden finds her soul and gives us all of her pain. Brown has some crazy boys to play, but Quinton is the toughest. He pulls out all the stops, letting us feel his conflict, letting us hate and love him. This is a good casting of characters and a great listen.
