About this listen
Although Stoker did not invent the vampire, the novel's influence on the popularity of vampires has been singularly responsible for many theatrical, film, and television interpretations since its publication. Required listening for any fan of the genre!
Public Domain (P)2015 Trout Lake MediaIf you could sum up Dracula in three words, what would they be?
immersive, strangely believableWhat was one of the most memorable moments of Dracula?
The count meeting Jonathan Harker for the first timeHave you listened to any of Peter Batchelor’s other performances? How does this one compare?
No 1st listenWas this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No, too long for me to tackle in one go. However does warrant extended listeningAny additional comments?
I was re visiting a book from many years ago, listening on audible brought a new dimension to the experience, thanks. It all started here

I also had to check that Van Helsing was Dutch as he sounded like the Count from Sesame Street. I don't expect the actor to get all the accents spot on obviously but with such an important character I'd expected a bit better.
But the old man's voice I mentioned earlier is unintelligible and so shrill that it's grating and you may need to take a break from the book.
Also you'll hear the actor's phone go off more than 50 times throughout the narrative. A really unprofessional recording.
Great story though.
Great Story but Horrid Voices!!

Would you consider the audio edition of Dracula to be better than the print version?
As good as the print version - enjoyable to listen to whilst driving.Who was your favorite character and why?
The characterisation was good throughout, although Van Helsing's accent made it difficult to hear clearly sometimes. What does Peter Batchelor bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
As above, good characterisation in a suitably atmospheric voice. Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No, nice to hear a few chapters whilst driving to work.Any additional comments?
Enjoyable.Well read overall, issues with sound levels

If this book wasn’t for you, who do you think might enjoy it more?
This is the second audio book in two days that I have discarded without finishing it. More effort should be put into selecting skilled storytellers instead of just using people with pleasant voices, this is, after all the whole point of audio tapes!!What could Bram Stoker have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
The storyline is great, just not the presentation. How could the performance have been better?
Different narratorWhat character would you cut from Dracula?
Spoken in a very monotonous tone.
