I was expecting more from this book. The information provided is freely available elsewhere. The author appeared to offer some critical analysis of the various subjects in order to seem balanced with the information he was providing. This was superficial and selective. An example that irked me was around his promotion of organic products being chemical free as opposed to non organic products where chemicals are used. He made no mention of the chemical pesticides that are allowed to be used in organic farming which are older types of pest control that have known issues environmentally. I prefer to see more balanced arguments as I fear that such obvious omissions detract from the message that integrative medicine has an approach that fits in well with the biopsychosocial model.
He spoke a lot about the placebo effect without explaining that this term has different meaning and he failed to define how he was using it. To me this is an omission that detracts from his message as it leaves the reader to decide what meaning to use and interprate what is being said without context.

Hopefully one day there will be a book that offers a more balanced view of the current state of integrated medicine. The area is in need of serving between the skeptical view point and the true believer view point.
