About this listen
I guess you could say I was a damsel in distress, and he was my knight in shining armor. But more accurately, I was a girl with a lot of bad luck, and he was a guy with a lot of muscles and tattoos.
Jude "Lucky" Lucketti wasn't just a sexy, brooding construction worker. He was my own personal hero, showing up in all the right places at the right times. Like when my car broke down and I needed a ride home, and when I face-planted on the sidewalk right in front of him and had to be taken to the emergency room.
We became friends, and it didn't matter that he was 16 years older than me. We had a lot in common - like our love of old rock music and vintage fast cars and our aversion to relationships.
When he approached me with a crazy idea to help me out with my many problems, I couldn't say no.
The arrangement was supposed to be temporary. A marriage on paper and nothing else. It should've been easy, but it wasn't. Because here I am, 18 years old, still in high school, and married to a man I was never supposed to fall in love with.
We had just one rule - no kissing the bride. But we broke that rule, and it sealed our fate forever.
Contains mature themes.

Enjoyable listen
This was a great book, and probably would have been a 5 star listen if I felt more emotionally connected by the end. Think the drama disconnected me more than it lured me in, unfortunately. Still more than worth a listen, though.

Cute lovestory
Takes a little time to enjoy the vocies from the readers.
Cute story, with an obvious ending. So no surprises or plottwist here.
I would recommend if you want a cosy story to enjoy

Age gap romance ❤️🔥
I loved Jude’s character, he’s a true gent and so caring. Skyler has a lot of problems and carries the weight of the world on her shoulders. I don’t have any issues with age-gap romance. Both consenting adults. The story is sweet, kind and loving. Both characters deserve some happiness.
The narrators were great.
I recommend this book ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Sane characters
It is breath of fresh air reading about adult characters who are sane and talk about their feelings! No childish BS in this one. I enjoyed it very much!

A great angsty age-gap listen
I’ve listened to this a couple of times now and it holds up on a second listen.
Skylar is 18 and has a terrible home life, she just wants to graduate, earn some money and get out from under her home situation, however things go from bad to worse when she encounters some medical problems. Jude is 32 and after running into Skylar a few times and learning of her situation he comes up with a plan. They could marry, and she could then be on his medical insurance, she would have a safe place to live and when she’s ready she can move on. It’s a practical arrangement, and comes from a really good place in Jude’s heart. However as with all things supposedly practical things get a little complicated when they develop more than friendly feelings for each other.
This is quite a brave age gap imho, given most place the female at at least mid- college age, however Skylar is literally still at school. She is however an old soul, who has had to grow up fast. Jude on the other hand has taken his time to mature so the pairing works quite well. They both have abandonment issues, Jude is concerned that Skylar should be doing 18 year old things, and he’s holding her back, he also feels like a predator even though he’s really not. Skylar isn’t that interested in doing 18 year old things, she just wants a home and a person who is all her’s. There are various dramas along the way, lots of push and pull, a few interfering friends, until yes you’ve guessed they realise they are actually perfect for each other.
It reminds me a lot of Birthday Girl by Penelope Douglas (which is also a great age gap romance).
Both narrators do a really great job, with their voices being perfect pitch for the characters they are portraying. I listened to this through Audible Plus but it would be well worth a credit. If you have issues around such an age gap then give it a swerve.

4 stars
I loved the book, was a solid 4 stars, really slow burn but it was really well written. I have to critique the narration though, I felt the girl was really fast compared to the guy.. only a small issue but it easier for the listener for them to be at a similar pace
