On February 28, 2013, after pleading guilty to violating the Intelligence Identities Protection Act, John Kiriakou began serving a 30 month prison sentence. His crime: blowing the whistle on the CIA's use of torture on al Qaeda prisoners.

Doing Time Like a Spy is Kiriakou's memoir of his 23 months in prison. Using 20 life skills he learned in CIA operational training, he was able to keep himself safe and at the top of the prison social heap. Interesting story but some dialogues were irrelevant and not bringing much to the book. I would listen to the first half next time.

I did find it repetitive in several parts which didn’t seem add any value.

Interesting insight into Board of Prisons and US prison system. A lot is stereotypes given in media proven true. Entertaining read.

The book is interesting and is an eyeopening point of view from a man who served and was wronged by many. But it could be half the length.
There is a lot of repetition in places that add nothing to the story and really slow the pacing, to the point I almost didn't finish the book in a few places.
Did I enjoy it? Yeah, it wasn't the worst.
Would I read it again? No.
