Livet under Besættelsen gik videre. Under krigens ekstreme situation voksede en omfattende og organiseret kriminalitet - som ellers kun var kendt fra forbudstidens USA - frem. Ikke mindst i den brutale politiløse tid fra 1944. Ulovlig handel med rationeringsmærker, cigaretter mv. fandt sted over hele landet på kaffebarer og i baglokaler. Opfindsomheden var stor blandt menigmand, men også egentlig erhvervskriminalitet, hvor en lang række respektable virksomheder var involveret, fandt sted.
Historiker og universitetslektor Claus Bundgård Christensen udgav oprindeligt Den sorte børs - Fra besættelsen til efterkrigstiden i 2003. Manuskriptet er baseret på hans phd.-afhandling.
